Finished the long stage and super happy with time so far.

Long day was very hot and 84 km. Took it very easy.

Really enjoyed the beach day before the long day. We saw many seal colonies and had to battle to keep my drink down because of the smell, but it was great running next to the beach for 20 kms.

Tomorrow is the dune run, so we are running on top of a dune for 10 kms.

Looking forward to finishing now and to a long warm shower!

Lara, you must be so happy you are almost done. You did amazing- as expected really. You did yourself and us (your coffee & cake support team) very proud! Can't wait to hear all your news when you get back. Text once you are back in civilisation so we can plan 'n "dik vreet" for when you get back- you deserve it. Enjoy that shower. L

Well done, that looked like it was really tough and hot. Just one more day and then it’s coasting to the finish line. The course looks stunning, I wish I was there. Liam: missing you mama, but dad and I are having fun (I sort of made him say that). Well done on finishing such a long day. You are doing very well. 21st is really good.

Finished stage 2 and really happy with my time and progress so far. Took it easy for last stage today and hopefully it will pay off tomorrow.

Most amazing thing of the run today was that we saw a hyena just after 10km.  Luckily he was not very hungry, so we were all good!

There was a small section of salt flats, but mostly sand and rocks.  We ran past one shipwreck and camping next to the ocean again tonight, which is nice and sandy.

I am lucky to be in a really fun tent and a great group of South Africans!

Love to all and will keep you posted.

Yes, have not braved it into the ocean – to scared to lose my undies Jacqui-

Well done Lara - saw midnight last night that you had completed the long run - give yourself a pat on the back - that looked difficult. Haha Ronan - you can be pleased you are continents apart !!

I see you are doing pretty well so far mum, keep it up. I don’t know if you are running the long leg today, but good luck on it. Have fun and try to refrain from vacuuming the desert, I know it must be very compelling.

Hey Mum, looks like you're doing well. Good luck on the long stage! I can see you're trying not to be competitive, coming 4th is 'just trying to finish' hahaha. Anyway, good luck on the last few days, try not to get eaten by hyenas. FYI, you missed a cracking Game of Thrones episode, something to look forward to when you get back.

Wow, today looked tough, but you are slowly reeling them in. Looks like you had a solid day, well done. Top 20 is awesome. Liam: Hey Mom, try keep up the stamina. According to what Dad told me you are doing very well. Missing you and good luck for tomorrow.

Lara! Don’t see my last message here, so hope you see this one! Comms really dodgy up here (Etosha and Caprivi). Signed up to RTP and do get a few emails but many times unable to get in to read the content. Stage 4 already and take my hat off to you cos it is so hot and dry here! Well done you - already half way! Thinking of you often! So glad you are in a camp with fellow Saffas! Vasbyt! Salute you! Georgie xxxxxx

That’s good, sounds like you are still strong and pacing yourself for the long run. Good luck on the next stage, it looks very nice. Liam: Keep going Mom, and be careful of the hyenas.

Survived first day. Feeling ok, but might take it a bit slower tomorrow.

Super windy, so not really used to it.

Love to all and will try and blog bit more tomorrow. Need to rest the legs
