FACTS & FIGURES FROM THE 2022 EDITION OF THE ATACAMA CROSSING

What a race! After two years of missing the Atacama Crossing due to COVID travel restrictions we were delighted to be back in San Pedro for the 2022 edition of the Atacama Crossing.

RACE STATISTICS

  • 39 countries were represented at the race by racers, volunteers and staff (35 countries just by the racers)!
  • 55% of participants joined their first 4 Deserts / RacingThePlanet Ultramarathon.
  • 31% of racers were women and 69% men.
  • Just 9% of competitors withdrew during the race which is incredible considering everything that was thrown at you! Our normal withdrawal rate is 12-20%.
  • 68 staff and volunteers helped make the race happen on the ground and behind the scenes – special thank you to the volunteers!
