Stage 2: End of Stage 2 and a Long Day!
Mon, 29 Sep 2025 at 08 00 pmAfter a long day out on the course, all competitors are now safe in camp and doing their best to rest before another exciting day tomorrow. Mohamed Al Qassimi of the United Arab Emirates and Arun Balakrishnan of the United States crossed the finish line shortly after the leaders.
Stage 2 was a tough day for all. Competitor John Venetoulis of Greece said, "Surprise ending, the last section. We didn't expect the elevation and steepness. You start fresh and downhill you're feeling great... then you have to wardrobe change. It's hot, that's what kills you. Near Checkpoint 3, the locals were so welcoming."
Despite the difficulties, the new Men's Leader, Matsuda Hiroyuki of Japan, managed to finish nearly 30 minutes ahead of the expected fastest time for the day!

Today the course reaches its highest point, peaking at 1,562m near Checkpoint 1 (CP1). From there, it is mostly downhill as competitors leave the Taygetus Range and cross into the Parnón Range. Competitors will then traverse the plains of Ancient Sparta, which takes them into Camp 3, where they will spend the night where warriors of old once trod.
It looks like another incredible day is in store in Greece. Some showers are expected, but then sun. The sun popped out shortly after the start, and will hopefully endure for a while. We will be live with more updates soon!
