Today we finished and got our medals. I am so happy to be done. My left knee is trashed it feels like bone crushing onto bone. My right ankle is swollen across the top. At first I thought was possibly stress fracture but I think just ligament issues. Now that the race is over trying to rest both and living off pain killers. Ship is already rocking pretty well and I guess tomorrow supposed to be 10x worse. Guess I’ll be lying in bed for 2 days straight. I am ready to get home. I know Penny the Penguin can’t wait to move in with Maykyla

Well then12 hour day was a success. I just walked high fiving everyone as they passed me. My hip is slightly better my left knee is 100x worse. I did 4 loops with no shirt on. Carried Penny the Penguin the entire way. She should of made all the pictures including the group one. Let me know if you can spot her. We got back on ship around 8:30p to find out that we start the next day at 6a. Woke up to high winds, fog, and snow. I really do not see much complaining about getting to go back to bed. Thenweather tomorrow is suppose to get bad so today might be out last day of running. Since all the loops are switch backs up steep hills then down the other side everyone is pretty sore. The extra recovery time is popular on this ship.
Doug, I found positive Ballz. He was hiding at the Chile research centre in Antarctica.

Day 2 is complete. The hip is ok been worse. As in I can at least still put weight on it. I pretty much gave up on any aspect of racing and I just try not to hurt myself more. The fun part is the loops are super short so I get to see everyone over and over again. I decided to just high five everyone as they go by. Today we ran a 2k loop on steep hill side that was covered in penguins. I actually have been taking some pictures. I also now have a penguin……
Gooch, Zeana saw your email about petting wildlife for points. She said if you keep it up you get uninvited from Atacama. (ill see if I can get 100points)

Day one is done. I knocked out 30 miles today. I only went knee/thigh deep in snow 10-15 times. It turned nasty as looks added up became muddy and slushy. Yesterday on the boat we saw a bunch of whales. Then today penguins met us on the beach as we landed. At one of the turn around a large seal slept on the snow all day next to the course. My hip started hurting again. I think it will be fine though its not that bad. Tomorrow we don’t run till noon then only do 6 hours. Excited about a half day.

Well my bags got lost on the way through Argentina. Good news is I was able to find all needed gear for the race. Bad news is the damage it did to my bank account. We are out in the middle of the drake passage now. Took a while to get used to the rocking of the ship. The staff is saying that the rocking back and forth is nothing to what it can be. I guess that is a good way to start out nice and easy. So far only wildlife are sea birds. Food on the ship is pretty good and the lectures are pretty good. Some want to send me the score to the Texas Kansas game and who is playing in big 12 championship? Not much happening yet. Monday we start running. Im ready to bet started.

As I sit here in my hotel room in Mexico City on my way to Ushuaia I realized how long it has been since my last blog. A lot has happened since I last wrote one of these on the atacama page. To make things short I got engaged after the race up at the geysers in the atacama. When I came home I gave the hip sometime to heal which did not happen. I had to go get a steroid shot to fix that. It’s much better now. Four days ago I got married. Then I left for this race. That pretty much sums up the last 6 weeks in a nut shell. I made it to Mexico no issues. Tomorrow night I get to sleep on floor of the Buenos Aires airport. Good thing I have my air mattress and sleeping bag with me. I am ready to get to Ushuaia. Next time you hear from me I should be there hopefully with all my gear.
