STAGE DETAILS

  • 28 Nov 2022 Stage 3

Stage 3 of The Last Desert concluded at 21:15pm with the leader, Matthew Cavanaugh, completing a marathon distance of 42.9 km / 26.6 miles after five and half hours at in freezing wind and snow on the top of Orne Island.

The entry onto the island required racers to walk along a rocky shore and climb up ice steps dug into the deep snow.

Today they were surrounded by penguin colonies - keeping a required distance so as not to disturb them. However penguins are curious so they came to see what was going on and played along parts of the race course.

The location was stunning with views to floating icebergs and mountains all around.
