UltraLite Series

Established in 2025, the UltraLite Series is a collection of multi-day footraces designed for athletes who crave the spirit of ultra running but prefer a more flexible and accessible format. Each UltraLite event runs alongside one of RacingThePlanet’s renowned 250-kilometer ultramarathons, allowing participants to experience the same breathtaking landscapes, global camaraderie, and adventure—at their own pace.

Whether you’re exploring the vast deserts of Namibia, the rugged beauty of Mongolia, the lunar landscapes of the Atacama Desert or the icy frontier of Antarctica, each UltraLite race offers an unforgettable journey of endurance, discovery, and connection.

Race Format

Participants in all UltraLite races can choose to run 10 or 20 kilometers per day, completing up to 125 kilometers over seven days. This structure provides the perfect balance of challenge and flexibility—ideal for those new to multi-stage racing or seasoned ultrarunners seeking a lighter, more social experience.

  • Most days start at Checkpoint 2 or 3 and finish at Camp (though some days start and finish at different points).
  • Daily transportation to and from checkpoints is provided.
  • Optional rest days allow you to skip a Stage when needed.
  • During The Long March, you may run up to half the regular distance, typically about 40 kilometers.
  • The final Stage 6 (10km) must be completed by all participants.
  • Runners covering at least 50km total receive a finisher’s medal.

Equipment & Logistics

UltraLite competitors follow the same gear requirements as RacingThePlanet ultramarathoners, ensuring safety and consistency, but with added support to simplify logistics.

  • Your camp equipment is transported between camps.
  • Camp bag size limit: 60 liters.
  • Mandatory emergency gear must be carried during each Stage, typically in a 10–20 liter pack weighing about 5 kilograms.

Campsite & Accommodation

UltraLite participants share campsites with full-distance ultramarathoners, immersing themselves in the vibrant RacingThePlanet community. You’ll stay in dedicated UltraLite tents, fostering connection and camaraderie among like-minded adventurers who share your passion for running and exploration.

Eligibility

  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • There is no upper age limit—the UltraLite Series welcomes walkers and runners of all backgrounds who are eager to embrace new challenges.
