Dr. Bradley Davis is an Emergency Physician at Spartanburg Regional Health System, a Level I Trauma Center, in South Carolina. Since 2008, Dr. Bradley has also worked at Village Hospital at Pelham Emergency Department. He is also a Physician Leadership Council Member and Chair of the Emergency Medicine Subcommittee. Previously, Dr. Brad chaired the Emergency Medicine Medical Executive Committee and served as Assistant Director of Emergency Medicine. He has twelve years of emergency medical experience and has been with Spartanburg Regional Emergency Center since 2006.
Dr. Brad earned his Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University in 1995. He became a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000 after graduating from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania and completed his internship in 2001, his residency in 2004 at PCOM/Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.
The Atacama Crossing (Chile) 2023 is Dr. Brad's fourth time at a RacingThePlanet / 4 Deserts race on the medical team. He previously worked as a medical team member at the Atacama Crossing 2013, RacingThePlanet: Sri Lanka 2016 and the Sahara Race (Namibia) 2017.
As an Eagle Scout and emergency physician, Dr. Brad is comfortable with both the unexpected and the outdoors. He is also well-practiced at on-scene assessment and stabilization because of his experience as air-medical flight physician with Geisinger Medical Center Life Flight.

Dr. Mark Ellis is the Medical Director for the Atacama Crossing (Chile) 2023 where he joins the RacingThePlanet / 4 Deserts medical team for the twelth time. He also completed RacingThePlanet: Iceland as a competitor with his wife, Sarah, in 2013!
From Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Mark works as an emergency physician at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A graduate of the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Dr. Mark completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida and a Wilderness Medicine Fellowship at Stanford University's School of Medicine in California.
Dr. Mark is a man truly at ease in the outdoors. He previously first joined the RacingThePlanet medical team in 2010 and has worked as the Medical Director at the Sahara Race 2011, Gobi March (China) 2012, Atacama Crossing 2013, Sahara Race (Namibia) 2017, RacingThePlanet: Sri Lanka 2016, Gobi March (Mongolia) in 2021 and 2022 as well as being on the medical team for RacingThePlanet: Australia 2010, the Gobi March (China) 2010, RacingThePlanet: Madagascar 2014, Georgia 2021, Lapland 203. "I really enjoy working in austere environments and getting the opportunity to care for others who enjoy it as well" says Dr. Mark.
When he is not in the hospital, Dr. Mark enjoys exploring and hiking southern Appalachia with his wife, Sarah, and four kids - Taylor, Noah, Emma Kate and Luke. He also spends time mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, photography, running marathons and traveling.
Lisa BROYLES, M.D.

Dr Lisa Broyles currently works as functional medicine consultant for Way2HealthMD in North Carolina in the United States. She joins a RacingThePlanet / 4 Deserts medical team at the Atacama Crossing 2023 for the first time with her physician husband, Brad Broyles.
After completing a double major in Biology and Spanish at UNC Chapel Hill, she attended medical school at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. She completed her family medicine residency at University Family Physicians in Knoxville TN. After working in traditional family practice, urgent care and serving as the medical director of two separate clinics, she obtained her degree in functional medicine. She now runs her own business as a functional medicine consultant, Way2HealthMD, providing holistic preventive medicine as well as chronic disease management via telehealth and home visits.
Dr Lisa has always loved travel, adventure and other cultures, traveling internationally since the age of 12 year. She is fluent in Spanish and has traveled extensively through Europe, Central and South America. She and Brad share two wonderful children and homestead together in the mountains of North Carolina. Together Doctors Lisa, Brad and their kids love backpacking, rock climbing, all water sports and just about anything that gets them outside and muddy!
When not seeing patients or homesteading, Dr Lisa enjoys riding her horse in endurance racing and Ride and Tie competitions. Her two favorite sports have always been trail running and horseback riding, so joining the sport of Ride and Tie has been perfect! In 2021 she and her son won the man-woman Ride and Tie national award, alternating running and riding their horse for the furthest distance.
Brad BROYLES, M.D.

Dr Brad Boyles is an emergency medicine physician at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, a level one trauma center and is the medical director of aeromedical flight services for Regional One. He also serves as the medical director for Union County SC EMS services. He spent his early adult years working as a paramedic and firefighter for over ten years before completing his undergraduate degree in English literature at East Tennessee State University. He received his medical doctorate from James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee and completed his residency in emergency medicine through UT Chattanooga Erlanger. During residency he obtained his wilderness medicine fellowship (FAWM) through the Wilderness Medical Society.
When not working Dr Brad enjoys spending as much time in the woods as possible, preferably in remote, difficult to access locations. He enjoys fly fishing, backpacking, scuba diving, and generally anything that gets him outside. He enjoys homesteading with his wife Dr Lisa Broyles and their two children on their farm in the mountains of western North Carolina.
The Atacama Crossing 2023 is Dr. Brad's first time on a RacingThePlanet / 4 Deserts medical team.
William JONES
Medical Research / Emergency Medicine Physician

Dr. Bill Jones was an extensive outdoor enthusiast prior to medical school with experience in rock climbing, hiking, and camping. He graduated from UT Health San Antonio medical school and emergency medicine residency and is currently pursing his fellowship in wilderness medicine. He continues to engage in outdoor actives with his family, the CubScouts, UT Health San Antonio Climbing club, and provides supports for ultra marathons. My was previously in the military which has given him experience that most would not have especially in austere environments. The Atacama Crossing 2023 is Bill's first time at RacingThePlanet / 4 Deserts ultramarathon and he will be undertaking medical research.
