Has anyone got any training guides for Egypt race 2011?

I am currently on 40 miles a week with 2 interval sessions.
I take 3 days off every 3 weeks for rest.
Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Marina, I did Sahara last year and I am going back in 2011. Awesome experience! If you are used to mostly running, add walking to your training (alternate walk/run). There will be many times that you will only be able to walk. It is good to be used to switching back and forth. train on sand/trails if possible. The dunes are very high so training on any hills will be helpful. Make sure you have a good electrolyte (I use "the right stuff"). I recommend a product called UCAN (www.ucanco.com). I used it through the race as my main nutrition and I had no issues with nutrition& I had no dehydration. Make sure you have good shoes. blisters can be a problem in Sahara due to the fine sand. I know first hand! I did my training in the hottest part of the day and I trained with my backpack (fully loaded) as I got closer to the race. Your back pack and shoes are probably the 2 most important thiings. Good luck with training! Patty

HI Marina Well done on the training. I think the most important thing is to just be out there. Often we get caught up in the distance. Time in the field is all that matters. Also be careful not to get injured. I live in South Africa and have been running the beaches in preparation. With 7 months until race day a combination of as many enviroments is important. Good luck with the training. Ps I find going solo is also an important part of the training.
