THE LONG DAY
Just finished the 100KM stage, I know why they call it the long day now. It took me 24 hours without stopping, starting at 8:00 am Thursday morning and finishing Friday morning. (Bloody crazy) Running or in my case marching my way across the desert. When you put your body through this sort of strain your mind plays strange game on you on the night stages. All you can see is what your head torch picks up, and after a while it feels like a video game your in not real life.
It over until tomorrow when we have a 5KM stage in front of the pyramids. The way my body feels right now thats going to be tough. The camp is fill with weiry bodies right now, some people are still out. Its going to be another hot one I can bearly keep my eyes open. So I going to sign off now hope you all enjoyed my tales from the dark side. Big love from the SORE SANDMAN to Debbie, Harry & Adam. Not forgetting all you guys who have supported my chairty.

WHEN A SHUFFLE BECAME A STEP
Another early start today, temperature up near 40 degrees. No shade, but tan lines coming on a treat.Made camp tonight before sunset that was a big bonus. The last person walks in with the camel but there is no shame in that at all.The long stage tomorrow so hopefully that should be it bar a short run to the pyramids the next day. Can some one ring my house & tell Harry to check my blog & also e-mail here so that I know its done cheers.I miss my lovely family so much I will be home soon. Good to hear the London Wasps got a win in, a rare animal of late. You made me laugh alot about the rabbit story Harry well done.
50-60 miles tomorrow, some mileage through the night under these fantanic star lite skies. Hopefully I can score some poles tomorrow, by the camp fire in the morning. The body is still going some how, some people are in a bad way out here so I count my bessing that its only my feet that are play up.Time to get my to my sleeping bag for some well earn rest.
Love to you all Sandman XXXXX

SAND, SAND & MORE SAND
Today was another hard day, for me & my feet. Loading up on the painkillers for the feet, but the body is strong.Temperature was 40 degree with no shade. Taking one day at a time here looking forward to the end.
Over half done now, short marathon tomorrow, if there is such a thing in this heat.Hi Debbie,Harry & Adam, glad to hear Darren came around with the car.We spent the end of the day walking across the ridge line of the dunes, it was hard work climbing. Two steps forward, one back .The desert breeze was fantastic, would not made it without Trevor's poles. Another early start tomorrow, lets hope the teeth grinder in our tent is a bit quieter, otherwise he may wake up with one of my socks in his mouth.
Please keep up the e-mails good to hear your support, its the best way to spend the end of the day catching up with you all.
Once again the time has come to sign off, so big love to you all hopefully will speak tomorrow ( Day 4)
Love the Sandman XXXXXX

WHY?
Well the day started well enough, with the first check point coming with no problems.A distance of 7.2 milles, mixed terrain in temperatures of 36 degrees. It took me just over 1.5 hours I guess because I was taking so many photos. The scenery it's like a moon scape truely breathe taking. The second stage took a little longer but then it started going a bit pear shape.Hydration system started leaking, started to feel hot spots on the balls of both of my feet.Pressure finally to much, the pain was quite overhelming.I got patched & finally finished the whole stage in 7 hours. Food never tastsed so good.My spirits were very much lifted by your e-mails please keep them up they mean a lot to us out here. Really I'm having fun great tent mates very looks out for each other here.
I like to thank Johnson Control for the sponsership that got us here in the first place. Also my wife Deborah & the boys Harry & Adam. Sorry to hear about your foot Harry, hope you made rugby today. Big love from the Sandman XXXX Blog again tomorrow.
