10km is before us to victory were we complete the most amazing journey an incredible week of highs and lows and lots of emotions. We leave the start line of the last stage on the beack to head inland across rocks and salt flats not easy to run on with these mangled blisters feet which i could hardly put a shoe on this morning trying to ignore the pain fromvthe feet and just get this done. I would not stop running well shuffling really all i could do wasctake it all in finally up onto a sand dune and reaching the top i see the finisline everyone cheering I was full of emotion and ran down the dune with the Aussie flag in hand straight into Cols arms with him puttingvthe medal around my neck. I could not help crying the emotion just all came out. Watching other competitors coming in was just a joy we all celebrated and cheered. A long nus ride back 4hrs to a wonderful deserved shower for all. Banquet dinner and awards at night and so pleased to receive a trophy for 3rd placed female overall. Complete strangers are now friends for life a common bond we all share and the highs and lows of a journey many dont get to experience. Loved having Col there to experience but another adventure together. To all that followed and kept me going thank you love you all. Xxxx

REST your head, you worry too much It's going to be alright. When times get ROUGH, you can fall back on us, don't give up, please don't give up. Got to WALK out of here, I can't take any more. Gonna STAND on that bridge, keep my eyes down below Whatever may come and whatever may go - that river's flowing, that river's flowing. Every school in Australia should know Sandy's story. The way you move us to tears as we trey to feel the blisters. Your power. Your will. Your brute force as you cut your way throuth the wind. And your grace and dignity. You are one in a million Sandy Suckling. #myfavouriteathlete

Just read my emails and message and after having a rather emotional day yesterday feeling very miserable through from checkpoint 5 to 7 they have been a real uplifter. The day started out well kicked it back just slightly knowing it was an 84km stage on these rather nasty blistered feet but I knew once I relaxed into what I want to achieve and I wanted to finish strong then it became all about enjoying were I was running looking at the beautiful landscape of hills and the sky so blue with one big ball of sun beaming on us all so surreal sometimes to just think how privileged I am to be out here running in a place not many have been let alone run and I guess that is what keeps bringing me back. I was looking forward to seeing Col at CP2 were I sneak a kiss as I pass through. Well my plan was to get through the first half then start pushing through to that finish line with everything I could give it be strong and in the game to the end. The day heated it Was so hot no shade told at one of the early CP it was already 39deg and rising.Plans don

Hi Sandy OMG Stage 4 sounded horrendous, but good on you for pushing through. A strong will, beautiful scenery, a spring box plus a running partner was just the motivation and incentive you needed. Wishing you all the best over the next couple of days, stay strong, keep sneaking a kiss off Col where you can and enjoy the last couple of days. Remember - tough times don't last but tough people do.

Well another day 40km done and dusted and there is lots of dust well sand actually but we are in Namibia. Stunning day of scenery with lots of variety I had a great day kept in my happy place and just ran over rocks sand some small dunes a dry river bed more sandy paths up and down rolling hills. Met Col at checkpoint 2 a quick kiss some water in the bottles and of running again. Struggled a bit the last 7 km into camp on a dirt track so put the ipod on not something I do often in these races and just kept running told my legs no excuses don

By now you’re on the bus and happily chatting wit everyone. Go to bed early (a prerequisite for us mature athletes), wake up early and get that game face on ... almost GO time!!

Another adventure awaits, another beautiful desert, another bucket list place to visit and best of all catching up with new and old familiar faces and friends. Time is ticking by and I feel I have done nothing but somehow it all comes together and I stuff all I need into the pack and we are standing on the start line. My passion for deserts and running always brings me back to the 4 deserts races and I am so lucky this time to have my wonderful husband with me to share but another journey. He will be shouting from the check points and helping you all with a joke or a push to continue... cant wait to meet you all so as my friend Mickey always says BRING IT ON....see you in Namibia.
