Phenomenal effort on the Long March mate. I'm sure you dug deep a few times, but I'm not surprised at all. Enjoy the victory lap to the finish. you can feed the hyenas with the extra 2kg of trail mix you still have left....?? :-) !!!

Awesome ... Inia is a top bloke (for a Kiwi). Really enjoying your blogs. By the time you read this you will have conquered the Long March and Namibia will be in the bag. Wishing I was there with you guys. Enjoy the home straight. Cheers Brett

You're doing well Andrew, keep it up; today will be a challenge! You are in a family of achievers - Jack and Tom have awards, Benjamin made the 1st XVIII and I won the chocolates at Bridge ...... anyway....Good luck for the final day and safe trip home.

Wow, sounds like real battle physically, mentally but environmentally. Well, you are the toughest 53 I have met in my life by far. Biggest day tomorrow.... But regardless you will do well and complete the mission regardless. I so know for sure. Gambare!!

Good luck with the Long March today. Looks as if that (relatively) breaks the back of it and gets you over the psychological hump. Good that you have drawn a favorable tent of fellow walkers. Keep pushing!

Agree on pacing yourself today! Sometimes taking it easy is the best way to get through to the next stage. Anyway, as long as you enjoy, It all matters. Good luck.

Keep going mate! Amazing effort off the back of only a couple of months preparation. The Long day will be great for someone with your mental strength. Just keep knocking those dunes off one after another and back to the tent for tea and biscuits! Good luck!

Another tough one, terrain was soft in places and rocky in others but just really friggin hot! (Harmony

"Solid" well done mate, another grind of a day - now for the big one, I know it's going to be a tough day , but you have been there before, phenomenal effort Andrew. Scenery looks amazing from some of the pictures and video uploads, hopefully can ease the pain of the "long march" ahead.

ACP; Great to see its going well mate. Hang in there, and continue to enjoy! You'll be fit enough to get a guernsey with Port Power mate, but then again I reckon Mike, Brett and I would get a guernsey with 'em at the moment, too. At least their bar takings would improve. Go well mate.

Awesome stuff mate. Really powering now. I can just see you steaming by those 10 on the last stage. With all that heat, and dehydration, I hope you are not hallucinating about unicorns

Almost half way through. Well done. You are doing great! But, you are not thinking about doing another one ........ yet??? 7days of thinking of feeding new message....it is tough.

03 May 2016 02:29 am (GMT+01:00) West Central Africa

Wow, that was friggin tough!! Approx 30 km up the beach with nowhere to go except soft sand, trying to find hard patches of sand, following footprints, traversing the beach etc., eventually settled on a small step

Keep it up Andrew brilliant job, stay focused and remember do things at your pace, a long stage awaits. GP

Like his dad, Ben has this strong determination which led him to make it to the first with footy and he (and I for sure) is very happy. Keep up, Ben's dad!

AP, we are following you from afar. Keep your chin up, you old b@stard. Great to see you making progress. Des and I have been on the course today. Greatly admire your determination, but worried about your common sense! Looking forward to sharing a beer with you when you get back. Will have to head to Hatos!

Huge effort mate. Do not envy you on that sandy stage. Must have reached into the intestinal fortitude bag a few times I'm sure. Don't worry, it's a big bag for you mate. That mental stamina will keep you going these next few days. Hope you were able to get some shots of the shipwrecks. Sounds amazing. Go hard fella

Awesome job mate, keep up the great work. By way of comparison I had to work my way through a whole six pack of Pale Ale by myself last night, it was tough going towards the end but I thought of people like you, and it got me through. Enjoy (I know you will...)

Hi Andrew, You don't know me -- I'm an Aussie who did the Grand Slam in 2014. Loving reading your blog. It takes me right back into the desert(s) and tent-life. Enjoy the spectacular scenery. You may meet a mate of mine ... Inia Raumati from New Zealand. we did the 4-Deserts together and even teamed up for Antarctica. he's a great bloke. Enjoy :)

Stage 2 looked brutal mate, just saw some footage of the area you were crossing, all soft sands, great effort in those conditions. Hope you are holding up well, all the best for the next leg, hoping for some firm footing Stage 3 and beyond.

30 April 2016 08:50 am (GMT+01:00) West Central Africa

Arrived in Namibia yesterday minus my luggage!!! Still lost, but fortunately I was carryign the essentials with me so I have enought to start, missing a few things I'd like to have though... Air Namibia "thinks" my luggage is in Jo'berg but really I dont think they know, I hope it's at least arrived when I return in one weeks time!!

Flying in did nothing to change my impressions that this race is all about sand, everywhere, that's what the terrain will be like.

Anyway, nothing more can do now, leaving in 3 hours for campsite 1...
