Hi all,

First, thank you very much for all your support, emails and messages.

Yesterday was the long stage, being 77km on mostly flat soft ground. I felt ok in the morning and ran the first leg, until we hit some soft sand where most people decided to walk, as it drains energy and still 60-some km to go, so no need to push it. There after we ran across some really scenic sand dunes and back on to flat hard ground, where I could run at a good pace. Cristina was feeling good and was advancing CP by CP and ended up finishing in a really good time, though being sick after CP 6.

But overall it was a really nice long stage, except the last 11km on the beach, which killed everyone

Good effort dude, don't sprint to much tomorrow, there is the temptation to get home soon for proper food and drink, but save the some energy for the after party!

HI guys, so glad that you're not amongst the DNFs and really sorry for those that have got so far but can't carry on. Hope you are both managing to recover today and enjoy the day of rest. Sending lots of positive energy to you both. That finish line is only 10Kms away now...crawling can be done. :-)

Hi C M. I dont know you butI understand what you are going through as I ran the Jungle last year. Just remember, tomorrow is a big day and you can get through it by putting one foot in front of the other and letting yourself go. The end is nigh and you will survive.

Dude and Dudette - I hope you got my message last night - by the time you read this you will hopefully be recovering from the long March - it's a tough call and I am so sorry to hear about the DNF's - ESPECIALLY Karl - i am gutted to hear! I hope you guys have push through this last barrier, 10km can be walked or crawled on Saturday and then it's in the bag! All my best for today (Thursday) and will be with you guys in spirit!!!!!

sorry to hear that Karl and many others had to drop out yesterday. it is hard to imagine the heat that you have to suffer when i m now sitting in the AC room and sipping my tea. anyway, I am SUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPER happy for you and Cristina to manage go through this tough day. wish you LOOOOOOOTs of luck for the long march day. Stay calm and keep moving forward. when it is too hot remember to drink and eat and think about it will get very nice chill in the night. when it is dark night try to imagine it will be stunning pretty to see the first light in the morning! after today, you can rest and will be one step closer to the finishing!! take care and look forward to the update.

Hey M & C glad you're at least enjoying the scenery ;-) sorry to see knee is hurting, bit of Cristinas magic oil should help....settle down, Im referring to the oil she shared in Ecuador...worked like a bomb. Wishing you both a great day out on the course tomorrow. Almost time to enjoy a couple of ice cold frosties and the gorgeous Table Mountain. Des

since you have been well trained in singapore and kuwait, heat should be a piece of cake :) good that you are almost at the top of the endless sand dune; you can fly/ slide all the way down down down in the coming days with your half empty bag! do you see that cold bear, chocolate cake, endless wine, and wild meat is waiting for you? Good luck to everyone in your tent and Gobi friends. Wish you all finish

Think we can call you Mad Max from now on.... You're running where they filmed it, right :) You guys are over the humo after today and then it's the downhill slide to wine and tourist time - assuming you don't spend everything on the locals in camp!!! Hahahhaha Good form out there i hope your knee comes right!!! Wish I could be there dropping some F-bombs on the course!

Good one guys! Keep pushing, keep eating and drinking and enjoy the next stage! The back pack will be getting lighter so, you hould be gliding over the sand tomorrow :) I hope you have plenty of Parmesan cheese and salt to make your dinners taste nice and that you are not getting too much sand in every everything that you eat... Have fun and don't forget there will be an ice cold beer at the end!

Congrats for getting through one more tough day. now your legs are well trained with the soft sands (or not!) and should be ready to fly in the coming days :) good to see from the pictures that you both look still energetic. keep that energy level and steady movement! ps. Andrew you should set a limit for using 'agony' otherwise we will only read this word in the coming blogs until they reach the finishing line.

Ok so that's a bottle of wine for each time I read "agony" hahahhaha Well done - EVERYONE's blog pretty much says the same thing!!! Well done guys on what looked like a tough stage - I read that your day three will have firmer sand but hotter and you guys can do heat so hopefully better day! Keep on trucking!!

Hi all,

Camp 1 was windy and sand was blowing into the tent and I was so lucky to have the position right next to the door, which does not have a zipper, so hand to us my backpack as cover
