Well guys we pretty much done we have a short few kms 2morrow but our time has been recorded'got in at 1230 last night so bout 181/2 hours of pure motoring. The day was perfect for a pale blue irishman like me,didnt get over hot in hight of sun high 30s but not sure.So i kept going through the stages and had a dinner at stage 6 12 hours in which sustained me till the end. What a finish though was a good few dunes and rocks and i managed to struggle up the last to a pretty quiet camp lot of people in bed and some still out on course,as i speak there are people still coming in they are amazing. So a little photo op 2morrow more so than a run and then back to hotel for a cold one, still in the gear.I have sand everywhere my poor camera is on its last legs just like me really,so i easily doubled my blister total havnt done a final check yet but im not the worst case here,1 guy had 2 toenails removed and a lot of people have lost several nails, all in the name of good fun really.Well im going to try work on my tan throughout the day as believe it or in stlll pale.thanks for all the mails guys it was great when the head goes down and that happened a few times. Its amazing the contrast to the first day around camp so many fit people but all sore in some way now. Im am going to medical tent now to sort out a throbbing toe think it has a build up of blood so hope they drill a hole in it to stop,i know you didnt need to know that but hey will do some more when back in cairo talk soon guys,Pat.

Posted On: 30 Oct 2009 05:44 pm

hey pa congrats on the whole lot and well done we really are so proud of you , but the thing i dont get is if we asked you to do some work such as tidy up after yourself or even put your feckin cup in the dishwasher its seems like such a task ,but you seem to have the will and commitment to walk and run the feckin desert and yet you would walk by the dogs piss on the floor. Maybe you and steve could have come up with an answer to that by the time you get back. By the way if you think your goin to pull over there sort out the head on ye even the women wearing the tea towels on their head wouldnt go near you. but seriously well done ,take her handy boots.

Well i susrived day 2 and it was all down to the promise of a cup of tea, i was ten minutes from pulling out was walking in a daze, very little sleep last night,  so i stopped under a bush and had a 10 minute snooze. It was supposed to be up around 48 degrees but not fully sure as i was asleep! So one of the team said she would come back and check if i was still there and it was home time in a jeep if i was still there. I had my kip got a drink and food and ploughed on and well im back in good spirits and cant wait for food and tea.Gotta go chat tomorrow Pat.

25 October 2009 09:42 am (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London

Well day 1 is over and  yes its like what the f*** was i thinking! It was pretty hot in spots up around 40 or so like a mild day in ireland. The crazy bit is there is the same again 2morrow and the next etc etc. So im sore in places that i thought never existed but thats the fun of it all, im in no rush at this thing i just want to get through it. So if you think im crazy well you will have to ask my new best friend Steve (which nobody can see strange enough) well he dragged me through parts where i thought it would be better if i just lay down and slept but he kept me going. Well im off to eat dinner and go to bed for a well deserved rest and go do the same 2morrow, talk then Pat.

I would welcome any tips on the wind down towards the race especially the last couple of weeks, as i dont want to do too much or little. Well as i said looking forward to the whole experience cant wait to meet the whole crew. Patrick.

Good Job Patrrick! It's all about slow. Get the miles underneath you and you will do fine! Make sure you recover adequately to avoid injury. I look forward to meeting you in Egypt dude.
