This website is aimed at fundraising for a good cause by running the Racing the Planet's Sahara Desert race.

Official course details are found at http://www.4deserts.com/sahararace/

Key Facts: Race length is 250KM Duration is 7 days (About 40KM per day), Time Magazine voted Top Ten Races, Temperature is 45 Celcius, Competitors carry 20 Lbs additional weight for equipment. Basically to sum this up, it's going to be painful!

Race Info & About me

On October 25th I (Steve) will be competing in the Sahara Desert run, voted by Time Magazine as one of the Top Ten endurance races on the planet. The incentive is to raise money for charity and compete in something extremely challenging. In general the type of people running the race have competed in climbing Everest, but then again there are also sales people or investment bankers based out of Hong Kong.  I know that I will do well, simply because I'm an awkward person and I like beating other people, that is.

The Sahara Run is an annual event each which takes place in the Sahara Desert Egypt consisting of 6 multi-stages over 7 days totalling 250 Kilometers. Each participant must not only compete in all stages, they must carry their own equipment & gear weighing between 20 -30 Lbs.

What do I want from you?

I am hoping to raise as much as possible so give so money to my dedicated charity. All of the funds raised will go direct to charity. That charity being Slough Crossroads provides care for many people in the local area. The costs for entry and all other costs will be paid for by myself, approximately £3500. This includes flights and equipment etc.

Please help me raise funds for Crossroads by online donations accessible via this page by clicking on the 'Donate' button located on the right-hand side of the page.

Slough Crossroads...bit more info

Slough Crossroads—Caring for Carers is a National Charitable Organisation with over 150 schemes in England & Wales. Slough Crossroads was established in 1992 and our objective is to relieve the stress in the families of persons responsible for care of people disabled by age, physical or mental illness. They offer on a weekly basis, Individual Support, Peer / Group Support, Clubs / Day Trips & Activities. Our 'Summer Sports’ runs for 4 weeks during July / August to provide support to carers during the long school holiday.

The demands on the carer can affect the health of that person, particularly if they are a child, with responsibility of nursing a disabled sibling or relative without a break from a demanding routine and without being able to share problems with someone.

This is where Crossroads can provide valuable help. We can offer the young carer the opportunity to have time off from his or her commitment, perhaps to visit a friend or take part in a trip / activity that would otherwise not be possible. We also run a weekly club on Fridays from 5 pm—7pm during term time.
