Hey all,
02 May 2017 01:52 am (GMT+01:00) West Central Africa
Stage 3 is completed. I came in about 45 min ago and despite having a recovery drink and water, I am not yet all here. It was a super super tough day. it took me about 9 hours to finish the slightly longer than marathon distance. 10km on packed sand, 20km on the beach with packed sand and then 13k on rocky terrain coming back inland. I am going to have nightmares about that last 10km for awhile. I did today by myself.

I have made it to camp 2!!! The exclamations underscore my excitement for finishing the day. The terrain was not bad-had some sand dunes and some rocky sections.

I made it! It was an amazing day and super beautiful. The sun came down on us but winds kept us from scorching heat. We did 38k today and I thought initially I would be somewhere around 8 hours but I came in just under 7 hours. I rocked at power walking-who knew?!

I decided to take my time traveling to Namibia from Auckland to really make sure I had a few good nights of sleep and avoid jet lag. Wednesday I flew to Sydney and spent the night there (and got to have dinner with 4deserts bestie Jo!), and now I am in Johannesburg and staying here for the evening. Tomorrow I fly to Walvis Bay and time will start to move very fast once I arrive with last minute packing optimisations, race briefing, meeting other competitors and gear check.
