Yesterday, with other Japanese competitors, Mr.Omori and Seiji, I've arrived at Guangzhou's hotel. We are all fine.

It's been almost 8 years since I came to this city for the first (and the last) time. The airport is completely renewed, from an old dusty one to the modern clean one. But the scenery of the inner city remains the same; cars, noise, shady street lights and energetic people.

Today, rain discourages us from walking the city, so we are very busy to kill the time. Anyway, we'll leave Guangzhou this noon and fly to Kashgar via Urumuqi.

Dear Tomoko, Kin; Thank you for your comments! Sorry, I (and the other competitors) couldn't see the Internet during the race... Wakana and James, my tentmates!, are very fine and you'll soon hear great stories from them. Seiji is also good (though he got serious blisters!) and you two must have met in Guangzhou! Thank you!

Hi Ando-san, I read your blog. I live in Canada and my friends Wakana (Japanese girl) and James are in the race. I have been checking to see if they are OK, then I found your blog. If you happen to see my friend, Wakana, please tell her I sent her e-mails. I wish you all the best and have fun! I wish I were there...although my family think it is too crazy... Tomoko

I've just finished packing my food and equips.

Tomorrow, I'll leave Japan and stay one night at Guangzhou.

My goal is to complete the race even though I walk the whole distance.

Ando - san Have a safe trip to Kashgar - I have already arrived. And regarding walking the whole race, its exactly what I had done to finish the Sahara and Atacama races - I'm sure you will have a great time. Cheers Gary
