Hi Richard, morning, it is HK time 0830 now. It is stage 6 today I can't imagine how hot it is, the fatigue, the pain !!!But, you overcome all these, which show you are a STRONG MAN. I believe your family, colleagues, friends, etc, etc will be PROUD OF YOU. So keep on. We all support you, HA HA HA !

Hey buddy! Your Jasper group is so darn proud! There are about a dozen of us gathered poolside, grilling burgers and reading the blog and checking photos. We're sending positive thoughts & best wishes. A few winter camp stories are being told - something about a 130 ft cliff and no ropes. And Greg H says visualize that cold, wet cave to stay cool! Hang in there, soldier on & finish strong! Winter Camp Group

The worst is over, but your description paints a picture of conditions that no one should have to endure. So glad you made it safely, & your decision to help others points to a man of character & kindness. Enjoy tomorrow & your hotel stay. Welcome back to reality!

Rich, your description is chilling, much worse than what I thought. We are so very proud of you and the other racers, it doesn't look like anyone dropped out in stage 5, or maybe just one. Thanks for being helpful to others, you always were, and we love you for that. Dad says The Gunny is watching over you. He said you would know what that means. I guess its a Marine thing. I worked extra hard in the gym today, I'm getting stronger. I'm so glad you will soon get a good shower, drinks, meal, and a proper bed. Good luck in the final leg, and thanks to God for your good health. Love Mom and Dad

What a description of what had happened in Stage 5! I am so glad that you have completed the monstrous Stage 5. Good luck on Stage 6 tomorrow. Enjoy the last short and sweet jog! Wini and I are doing well in Seattle. We did climb up a 1/2-mile trail from the bottom of Snoqualmie Falls to the top, trying to simulate what you have gone through in Gobi... The temperature was in the 50s, and drizzled. It was not easy, but nothing compared to yours. It was the thought that counted, right? Do we get "cool" points for doing that? Now, relax and regain your strength. Cannot wait to talk to you on Saturday when you return to the hotel in Hami! What an experience you have had! I admire the resilience and humanity that you have displayed. Big kisses to my hero and love!

I'm not surprised at all with your ranking or progress! Mom and Dad may not have created the smartest boys but they sure did make us resilient, stubborn and determined. Keep kicking some serious ass and continue to proudly represent our family. I wish I could be there with you for inspiration but I know you're using your competitiveness to keep going. Hi Dude, (dare to say it as you are thousand miles away in a desert…mug..lol) May I beg for your forgiveness have’t give words in the first couple days while picking up my routine after return from Seoul! Still I kept checking results everyday. Stage 1 = 22 Stage 2 = 20 Stage 3 = 19 I have seen 7 people withdrawal (W) + 6 People Do not Start (DNS) as of this moment. You are doing a fantastic job and being a part of 20% the best results runners. It is your half way to go… another 83 miles only. Keep rock and roll man. I was so touched you have a great daughter did an amazing job for her dad. Wini is such a lovely girl. Lucky you and Christy. Envy & greatly admire. My brain non-stop imagine you had pushed very hard to your body and legs to those breaking points. Whenever your legs or soul were instability, please listen to your ipod plus sing it… ************************************************************************ Rising up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet Just a man and his will to survive……………….. The eye of the Tiger…… Rising up, straight to the top Had the guts, got the glory Went the distance, now I'm not going to stop Just a man and his will to survive……………….. The eye of the Tiger…… ************************************************************************* I know you have been a long journey but enjoy it, overwhelming all summited hilly, sands, rocks & reliefs. Keep dazzling and you are the Star of all of us, you are always will be. Tally

My love, I am so happy to hear that you are still feeling good, after all these difficult challenges that you have conquered. You are so inspiring! But I don't think I will sign up for it soon! You had a great training these past few months, so I am confident that you know how to fight it mentally and physically. Meanwhile, do not forget to enjoy the scenery on the way! Did you spot camels yet? Wini and I are now in Seattle. The temperature is at 72 F, so comfortable. It makes it hard to imagine what 100 F is like! :-) We wish you were here with us. Have a great ending in the next two days. You are almost at the finish line.

Hi Rich. I really envy your drive and energy level. Don't know how you tolerated that freezing rain and wind. That really would be grueling. You must be very strong to make the uphill run and adapting to the elevation change. You are one strong guy! Just keep up the proper nutrition and drive to go again each day. Love you and dig deep for the finish. Aunt Katie Will be looking for tomorrow's post.

We are doing great. The wifi is just connected in the house, so we are in action again! Xiu Bao and MaryAlice are visiting now. It is great to see old friends. The yard looks great, but I can see there are lots of work to be done, as always. Hummingbird feeders are hung and now it is the matter of when these cute little birds can find their food again.
