Getting down to crunch time. I have my pack packed but I don't know the final weight since I don't have a scale in the house (don't believe in them) and the kitchen cooking scale only goes up to about two lbs. Bought my final pieces of mandatory equipment, and despite having to buy two headlamps, I figure Nick and Walker can have hours of fun putting them on and running around the dark apartment when I get back. Props to my mom who is flying over here on Friday (after I depart) to help Mayra look after the boys while I am away. I honestly don't feel completely prepared physically as I didn't get any training runs in on the sand or trains, but at least I got in a good 60-70 kilometers a week in on Tokyo pavement. My wife Mayra has been a huge help along the way, looking after the boys while I needed to run. Little does she know I've signed her up against her knowledge for next years Gobi.

Enjoy the watermelon. Most of your strength and guts came from your mom. I\'m relieved that it\'s over. Good job!!!!

AJ - brilliant effort and intestinal fortitude which makes some of your colleagues here look a little weak in the "guts" department. We are all following you on...keep on running...cheers SS
