Feet are doing well and tapered the hot spots for good measure. Test is Day 5, 100K. Gotta stay hydrated and eat and eat.
I am sure there will be a lot of stories after Stage 5 which last for 2 days, no blog updates tomorrow as I will be busy.
I am so motivated from reading your emails and blog comments and keep them coming.
I will pace myself over the long march..

I have gotta lost 2 so far even with pink flags 25m apart. It occurs always on straight roads and the markers go left or right and I go straight. so far added about extra 3-4 kms....
We are staying in a village tonight that has a stream for washing and taking a bath. Trust me, its was so sweet to sit in icy cold mountain water.
We leave at 3.45am tomorrow 2 hrs bus ride to get to stage 4 for a 6am start. We are down at sea level and its getting hot. Yes, I willl drink lots of
water.
The body is doing well and eating as planned. The feet are holding up through the gravel and river crossing.
The warm up days (stage1-3) are over and days are gearing up for the 100km Stage 5.
Gotta eat dinner and start taping my feet and getting to bed by 9pm.

I am feeling good aside from the freezing weather in today's campsite. We are at 2,100 meters and the temps will get cold tonight..I was toasty in my sleeping bag but may get cold tonight. Added to my low tolerance for cold will be a fun night.
Tomorrow's run will be 29K and will start with a MD/M/M course rating.
Its getting cold and I will sign off as my fingers are freezing.
Keep your mails / blog comments coming in! (You call also send me emails).

It will be cold for the next 3 days and will end wearing all my clothes tonight. The trip out to the campsite was filled with excitement as the bus had to transverse a few rather narrow diversions on the road. Adventure even before we start.
I will call it an early night and get ready for tomorrow. Love to my dearest and the 2 girls.

Perhaps a good way to manage pre-race anxiety is to concentrate on your day job. This is 180 from my previous races, where you go to the race site at least 5 days prior and get in your morning swims and rides along Queen K. But again, this is a 250K run with a full backpack.
The lead up to Gobi has been an adventure and surprisingly enjoyable. Going long is a different mindset and requires patience plus more patience. Hopefully the weekend romps around the hills of HK and MacRitchie reservoir Singapore has helped build the patience needed.
So how does it feel to be T-2 days from the start of the race? Calm yet excited. I had a good night's sleep (in the super comfy bed which I will truly miss) which is a big '+".
As with most peps, I triple checked the pack and looked at the massive amount of food for each day all ziplocked and labeled.
I should sign off and get my act together if I aim to get onto the plane today. Look forward to meeting everyone in Urumqi.

Dedicate this to all the people who made this happen. Though running is an individual activity, the irony is that we don't get to run if others do not help.
A big Thank You to RTP volunteers, staff, Mary and Alasdair; Margie and Tessie plus XJE team; running buddies (Simon, Peter), Tobias for sharing his menu and stuff.
The Wei support team; Jenny, Nik and Paige - you gals are great!
