OH MY SWEET LORD! I'M NEVER EVER DOING A HOT RTP AGAIN! 100K DAY SUCKED BUTS ITS OVER! Just 20K to go tomorrow. IM SITTING IN THE CYBER TENT just with the tent roof on and now walls and I feel like I'm being blown by a hair dryer on hot Its 128F and im knackered! Last night I walked because I just wanted to finish this without damaging my self or having an "IV" drip in my arm on the course which you only get after you have vomited twice in front of the medical staff who may or may not be around to come and help you because they have quite a lot of others who they have on IV drip. I just thought why should I push myself to do this just take it slow and get it done. The hard bit is over and tomorrow is another day and I have my lovely husband to look forward to seeing at the finishing line. Im sick of carrying a back pack that weighed with all my water in at 13kg. Im sick of freeze dried food. Im sick of sand in my hair and just not having bathed for a week. I am over this adventure. I think the course has been beautiful in parts, ghastly in parts, filthy, hard work, easy, boring, breathtaking, scary, lonely, friendly, maddening, hateful and whatever I don’t every want to be hot again. I cant write a blog im physically exhausted and I'm done in so sorry but im signing off because this comptur is driving me crazy its jumping and I don’t have any energy or patience to cope with it. Im done in, physically and mentally. Thankyoru and will try to that finishline tomorrow and blog then. Im going to my plastic mat, my sand filled sleeping bag and im going to major myself up on pain killers and try to sleep until tomorrow mornings last start line.xxxxxxxxxxx

WHAT A HARD DAY! I FOUGHT AND DUG DEEPER THAN I HAVE EVER DONE! We were in windless gullys for around 2 hours and it was terrifying. Peoople was passing out and being tsick and it was horrid hot. It was an early start too at 3am and the sleep was not there either. There is no other way to say it but im scared shitless for tomorrow. The only good thing is i think most people feel te same! We are now in a place called uigher ghost town in an ancient ruin and the stream is below and we are not allowed in it! OFFS! I thank you all for my e mails and comments and dan thanks for lilles! Dt i am so tired and exhausted that you know me at the best of times cant keep up with your intellectuall prowess but Shakespeare in the heat, im dizzy so im cutting this short to go eat, take salts and rehydrate as my worst nightmare is bing ill in this hell hole. The dust, the smell everyone please remind me why when you next see me. I GOTTA GO NOW PRAY NOW FOR ME TO KEEP ME KOOL IN TEMPERATURE AND TEMPREMENT.

I am so happy as to throw my cap up to catch the horn of the moon, in reading of your epic completion of the 100k, in arrival in Urmuqi at 8pm. I also read in the general report that you arrived in good spirits and seeing you are lying 12th amongst all the women, I feel like having been married to Linda Wagner. See you tomorrow! What can be wonderfuller?

Lady T What an inspiration you are. I could not do it EVER. I love reading your blog but I worry about the endurance tests you are being put through.
Scotland is cool and wet so nothing changes here!
Really brilliantly done and best of luck for what is to come.

I dedicate this day to CHARLIE PITCHER, hes my old friend who won the trans altantic challenge solo across the atlantic and won, if my memory serves me abnormally well its was 56 days at sea alone! Today has been awesome i have deiceded i love sweaty wet feet as every time i crossed the river crossings peeps were taking of there shoes and socks, but no sweaty betty here whose used to wet feet from sweaty hong kong weather just charged through. It was awesomely refreshing. Diego carvajal, (Marie, he talks a lot doesnt he?! - perfect antidote to turning off from my own pain!, cant wait to hook up and meet the better half in London) helped me and several other competitors across fast running water and deffo staved my i-pod several times. First stage was hilly and going through forests which was heaven and shady. BTW Phil Tye going stong well impressed Phil and at least Pete has done something good for someone!! BTW Pete, Diego talks more than you never thought that was possible! 2nd stage was not so nice my knees went crook because of all the large boulder walking earlier so 2nd stage i felt a bit batey, Diego took off running which wasnt a bad idea as i then i podded in. The best. 3rd Stage was a little duney but a good 7k run home on the flat and a little down hill, i ran 80% of the way and the camp just didnt come at more of a perfect time, otherwise i would hve blown up but Sissel i drank and electoylted it so hearing you loud and clear. Belles poor little Is, is she better? Emma, Kev, Danielle and Charlie HELLO and thanks for writing in. Fogs you too and please tell Charlie i am thinking of him lots. Another same Kilometre day tomorrow and all i wish for is breeze and cloud like today, i really dont like running in heat and Scary Mary or Dave Annadelle the course setter said last night that hed never been in the Turpan Basin in his last 3 times there in less than 48 - which i think is 120F, Stinks where are you for my intellectual knowledge. Also all those audio books i downloaded to try and impress you with my new found knowledge when i see you (i cant wait, its been our longest space for a long time- nomore) Mark Weinberg I love you for writing in and pretending you dont mind the updates, im sure you havefar more important things to do like tend to the staff and lovely nut nut! Gosh i miss you both we havent done something lovely together for too long. Dave Ker you stink as you havent written and i have thought about you several times when i have had to go and visit the public bogs, thats the only time i havethought of you! Kirsty, oh my god im so looking forward to seeing the scan. Alice, i know you will change the bbry 2 more times b 4 i see you. Gosh anyone else i forgotten im sorry its just that there is no dual screen to see but someone teach my mother how to use her i phone to e mail, she loves to text and e mails shell just waffle away! Dan thanks your a crap brother for never writing! I hear its an early start tomorrow , 4am! We are now staying in a village and in someones hut, its nice but hygenicly i prefer the tents. Nix and Tray you are so going to do one of these and i want to be at Dragon i when you are now out here! PLEASE PLEASE ALL OF YOU PRAY FOR COOL TEMPERATURES ON THRUSDAY AS THATS THE 100KILOMETRE DAY AND I NEED HELP. IM SCARED SHITLESS OF THAT DAY. PLEASE PRAY NOW! I have t go as i seem to have created a que behind me,! Im going to sleep now its 3.36>

Mom and I were sitting in my ambassador yesterday moving boxes over to the new flat, and cannot believe how hot it is in London ! You will literally fry if you walked outside ! I could not stop but wonder how hot it must be for you in the GOBI desert !!! AND having to run in that heat must be nauseating ! Its amazing . Well done you !!!!!! xxxoxoxo
Sending you a light breeze.... ^o^, but I think what you really need is one of those caps with a fan on the top, and 2 straws hanging out on the side of 2 water bottles so you can sip away as you run in the heat. I reckon that will be very popular. ha !
As a "designer", surely you can design that and make a few bucks xox

Crap! Scarey days - well done and hang in there xxx
28 June 2010 08:37 am (GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi
Today 2nd day, finished with no injuries which is the only thing i pray for big time throughout this course, i think i can handle tiredness but pain - nah and sick - nah! Mountainous 13k start was good for the Hong Kong muscles but i sure was tiring for the beginning of the day as the 2nd stage i was tired and a little panicked which made me concentrate on the need to eat! Tried a promax lemon peanut butter bar which worked great in HK but here it made me feel a bit nauseous. As a result ' the rest of the course was pure concentration on other things like listening to what Diego was talking about, and thinking one foot infront of the other, electroylytes, water, Its funny that thats all you can concentrate on but thats all you can handle when not feeling 100%. I dont have much to report today as i havent had a chance to read the e mails coming in or the comments so if i havent commented on them keep them coming in its just theres a massive que for reading computers so i jumped in to the writing blogs computers as its hot, im lighteaded and i needed to focus on something. so im now going over to the other tent to read comments and e mails and tomorrow i will do it the right way round hopefully and hopefully tomorrow i will feel less nauseous. Its getting hotter as the days go on so just think cool thoughts for me and send me a breeze.

henry the sixth said : it boots not to resist both wind and tide! now you must resist resist resist, having started. brush aside the wind with every small step, and with every small step you diminish the wind! i know you havw get up in the morning before the bubbling dawn tomorrow, well catch the bubbles and let them propel you forward through every grain of fying sand1 on more unto the breach, once more, as henry the fifth screamed!

my God Lucy who would have thought it all those years ago when the most adventurous part of our day was having taramasalata instead of smoked salmon for lunch. You are quite incredible. Respect, air-conditioning and ice baths sent with love.

Cannot but Can believe you are marching, running, hiking, walking and hopefully not crawling around the Gobi! Your description of the "Opening Ceremony" was very funny and brought vivid memories of that special Chinese spirited patriotism. Hope you ate some banquet delicacies before setting out on the Long March....and did you remember to bring some instant congee and noodles to remind you of home? Don't forget all those combative words of advice from your missing Team Good Sport girls. I can remember doing a day climb of Toubkal in N Africa with Belles and two guides called Mohammed and Mohammed. Belles kept feeding me Goo packs and instructing Mohammed to get me to the summit while trying to fire me up with "What will your boyfriend think if you don't make it to the top?" To that, all I could mutter was, "I don't give a f**k what my boyfriend thinks now or later but I would like to get there for myself!!!!" With the help of a great friend, some Goo, and a couple of Mohammeds I luckily made it to the top and so will you to the finish!!!
Sending you tons of strength and good humor and huge admiration for your courage..... LT xxoo

I just don't know how you do it. Goes to show that when one puts ones mind to anything, anything can happen. Just so amazed, because I know I could never do what you are doing. It must feel very empowering. Thinking how beautiful the scenery must be.
Love and lotsa kisses...even though I know you are a little stinky xxxx

How do you have time to write such a marathon blog?? Aren\'t you exhausted? Its a good sign that you obviously have plenty of spunk and because it all makes sense, you haven\'t gone gaga! I want to know if this route is tougher or easier than the preivous 2 and whether you are finding it harder or easier because you are better or trained better?

Luce, good tent... good start! I'm in Provence and it sorta feels like I'm in the Gobi with you guys: parts are arid, lots of rocky terrain, very hot and occasional wind. That's about all though, esp as we were enjoying steak tartare on the hilltop of Rousillon :) Sending you and Amanda loads of good vibes, ROCK ON tomorrow!!!! xxxxxxxxxx

Lulu love you lots and really hoping you are ok and ready for tomorrow. ````James and I sending you huge hugs and kisses -well me more than him thank you very much! XXX

UMMM, HERE I GO AGAIN! This time SOLO. My two team mates are both busy so hey, i've got nothing planned so why not!............? Well there could be many reason why not, including lack of training due to only deciding 3 weeks before the event. But no more indecisiveness lets just get on with it? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So I did some large ones( to my standards) over the last 3 days back to back, which means climbing some hefty mountains here in Hong Kong in the massive humidity. Im tired as a result but who isnt. I have to give it my best shot as I am told this will be special for me seeing as it will be first time solo for me. So I pray (and of course worry) that fingers crossed, I just cross that finished Line and have one of the best experiences of my life when I look back on it in years to come!

I am secretly envious - you will have an awesome time even without the team...
take care and good luck
Look out for Denvy Lo - another HK girl - also a bit apprehensive!

Nice! I am going to be tracking you online and pulling for you Lucy. Make sure to update us through you blogs.

Hi Lucy glad to see one of my tent mates from the Sahara will be in the Gobi. :). Look foreward to seeing you in Urumqi. I'll save you a bag of chips for the 90K :). Annabelle and Sissell were slowing you down haha
