Hi Micke! It sounds like you having a trip of a lifetime...again. Just by reading your blog I can see a scenery video coming before my eyes. Thanks for sharing. Keep on going strong, the pack gets lighter and lighter and the man gets stronger and stronger. It will be another fantastic victory to enter the finish line soon. Go Rambo!!! Lassi

now then Micke, I heard you have a lot of calories in your bag - but no sausages!? Remember them for next time, can imagine grilling them on the fire... We had to look at that face in Atacama everytime we woke up!! All the best for the long day, sounds like it's been an amazing visit - finish strong and enjoy those beers tomorrow - I'll have one or two for you tonight! Paul

Men du har ju fått melon och bröd läste jag! :) Du får skicka en bild på dig när du landat i Finland. Nyfiken på hur din bad hair day utvecklats i öknen. Kämpa!!

Hej bambi!

Have to admit that today was a tough day. Until 28km everything felt perfect but then suddenly something happened. I finished but the last 12km were hard.

Maybe too little water and electrolytes. Need to prepare the whole night to avoid dehydration tomorrow.

But already after having read your emails, I got extra energy. You are all fabulous. Thanks for thinking of me.

But the stage itself was one of the nicest I have experienced. Very beautiful scenery. I got once blocked by sheep, once by cows. And the views were something cannot describe with words.

I just decided to take it very easy tomorrow as in two days we have the long march. I need to get some more energy. But it is not the first time I have felt like this so don

Hej brorsan! Vad kul med nytt sällskap av kossor och får. :) Vilket äventyr! Med risk för att låta likadan varje gång: kämpa på!! Hejarklacken i Vasa är inte trött ännu!

Hej Micke! Continue fighting how you always do! For sure I will find a nice beer as a reward when you are back! Cheers!

First of all, I had a fantstic night lat night. Slept almost 10h. full of energy for day 2.

We heard in the morning that we will climb up to 3000m, during 17,5km and then the same back. The extra spices to the stage ws brought by mother earth, it was raining all day!!!!!!!

The climbing was cool and actually the rainy day was like a typical summer day in FinlandJ

But to be honest, I have never had my pulse on 190 for 3h in a row. And when the same beating was in the head, it was like in a discoJ

But as I arrived the top, where we had 2 degrees and strong wind, I thought that now it is easy to go down. BUT, as it rained, the ground was slippery. I felt that coming down was as hard as going up.

It was a good day for me!!! Very satisfied. And again, NO BLISTERS. Im amazed. Now I had double socks on right and a toe sock on the left.

The challenge is now to get everything dry until tomorrow. Because all stuff is soaking wet.

I plan to enjoy a pasta carbonara now but I want to thank you all readers for your encouraging words. It is really giving me energy. THANKS!!!

I love you all, and greetings from a happy man out in the Gobi desert! Tomorrow is a mentally important day!

Greetings back to the happy man in the Gobi desert from a happy sister sitting on a comfy sofa at home.

Great to read your update and high spirits, Finnish SISU provides you with that extra +10 bpm when you need them the most. So you will be fine in the coming days as well :) Did you shave off some weight by bringing with you one of those USD 1 rain coats, as I recall in the last race you had a good one with you? Seems that they all come handy this time. As the blister problems are gone, I cannot imagine how fast and light you are cruising on the Gobi deserts, very happy for you. Keep on pushing, it is all downhill from now on...and the pack gets lighter every day...always goo to remember. You can also use the old trick of throwing away the extra 3 pairs of underwear...will save you at least 200gr a piece :) Barcelona will be waiting for your Stage 3 results here, Go get them Cowboy!!!

One clever guy said once to me. You should celebrate small victories, even though they are really small.

First of all, this is the first day of my life in a desert when I haven

Hi Micke, Just found this blog page, getting old with tech I suppose. 15kgs starting weight sounds like a grown-up man packed his gear :) You will need the calories so let the skinny ones go with the 11kg bags and carry your whole weight with pride and glory. It will be you having the wonderful spaguetti bolognese meal on the last night, when others are down to their electrolyte caps. Besides, you probably brought the olive oil bottle with you so that is 1kg already. Super happy to hear that there are no blisters, that was something to see last time after the first day. You will go strong, a proper superman that we are all proud of. Waiting for your Stage 2 results, have a good rest and kick some further Gobi Ass tomorrow!!! Lassi

Hi,

that was a trip. Left from Helsinki Wednesday evening and flew over Shanghai to Urumqi. Had an airport transfer in Shanghai but I made it, as well all my belongings. Happy to get a good night sleep now and then take the train tomorrow to Hami where the race hotel is.

Met already many familar faces which just gives me energy for the race.

It is very hard to get any internet connection so it might be that the next blog text is after the first stage.

Feeling happy, and ready for a new desert experience.

Greetings,

Micke

Glad that you are nearly there - Hami is like a trip back in time to a new world so it's rather apt that the travel is a long time. Also very cool that you've met some desert friends already. Good luck!!!!
