Hi Greg Fantastic that you're in good spirits, this really is a mental game and it seems you've already conquered it! Not far to go! We're proud of you and cheering for you! Make sure you're getting enough electrolytes, just read an interesting article about overhydrating, so drink enough but not too much. 500 - 800ml per hour. Take care you will be home soon. 01 June 2015 03:09 am (GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi

Today was a very, very long day. I completed Stage 2 in 10h30 i.e. 3 more hours than yesterday for only 5kms more. It tells.

We had snow on the difficult stage climbing from 2000 to 2600m. It reminded me of the Alps and I seriously felt I belonged to 27e BCA. Dad will understand. I also waited for my friend who was struggling on it.

It got tough on the following part, which was an endless road in construction full of small rocks. My right foot arch starting aching from the beginning. Not a good sign.

The last section was another endless desert road. I felt I had what I was looking for the first time since before that it felt like being in the French Alps. It was going well until all these gels and bars caught up with my belly.

Friendship along the course is amazing with everyone looking after and supporting each other in tough times.

I had a good finish, even running for a few hundred meters to catch up with an Englishman who I could definitely not let cross the line ahead of me. Rugby world cup this year

Snowball fights, sightseeing, camels, luxury yurts, ... sounds like a nice little ballad. But well done mate! Looking at the race profile, you've probably done the hardest part. It's all the way down to the end now :). Take care of your feet and body and you'll make it. I bought a pack of Skittles to eat from the office while I follow your little adventures to avoid being stressed. Very proud of you. As usual.

Debating comfort vs weight at the moment. Do I take a sleeping mat? Or will it get ditched en route? Watch this space.
