GOBI DESERT 250 Kilometer / 155 Mile Self Supported Run
05 June 2015 04:55 am (GMT+08:00) Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Urumqi
50 miles in just over 14 hours. Finished Top 40 at #39! The mirages and vast open spaces finally appeared after running up snow covered mountains and through freezing rain in earlier stages. Reports of 117 F / 47 C and little to no wind. At one point I was the proverbial man in the desert with no water looking for and oasis that was still miles away. Unimaginable scenery amplified by physical exertion have embedded memories that will still need to be contemplated. The white falcon was magical. Thanks for all the great messages from everyone and for all your support! I look forward to seeing you all in person!!

Ran 26+ miles in 6 hours today out of the snow-capped mountains, past old ruins down to the flat valley, over barren, broken rock, under sunny skies and sometimes light warm breeze. I look forward to the big event tomorrow, 50 miles, after what I can say have been 4 incredible "training runs"runs in a row! Thanks for all the welcome emails of support from everyone and especially for your donations.

Stage 3
Stayed in a unique rural farming village last night, and ran 26+ miles today over rocky terrain with double hump camels lazily grazing away and through mountain passes in a cold rain. Now clear why this is called the Gobi March. Had a strong finish in the top 50. Sleeping in big tents tonight and tomorrow running the last marathon before the double.

Yesterday we saw wild horses running across the steppe where Gengis Khan ranged;
today we climbed up a snowy mountain in a blizzard, ran through a riverbed and a rocky hilly mountain valley.
25 miles and 6 hours 20 minutes later finished the 25 mile course in the top 50 for the second day in a row.
My longest run to date.

Dear Friends!
I am very excited to embark on a new test to challenge both physical and mental boundaries by participating in a 250 kilometer (155 mile) self supported run through the Gobi Desert in China during the first week of June 2015.
In my rucksack I will carry all of my supplies for the seven-day journey
