Hey all, hope everyone is well. This blog may continue to contain ropey chat as feeling a wee bit tired. Here goes…day 3 done, started off trucking through a village and fields, which was magic. After that they decided to mix it up and we were up and down canyons for a few hours, some of which was enough to give you vertigo. End of the day was brutal, with a 8km trek uphill to the camp. Totel distance today was about 35km. managed to slide in at 5.45hrs in about 27th place. got a feeling tomorrow will be a different story, basically if we do not fall at some point we will be lucky. Anyway, in the words of Ben C, ‘time to man up Baber’. Thanks for all the birthday wishes, older, balder and in need of a beer, however apart from that all good. Love to my crew back in Sing. Daddy is still looking for those bears, so far lots of sheep and a few camels. however Chinese bears are very fast and daddy is not very speedy. See you all soon. Guy

Haha hey mate hope things going well, Happy birthday by the way! 2 mates of mine did this 3 years ago, they said it was awesome but bloody tough! I leave it to those fit lads such as yourself. Just remember one song that a mate who the Kokota told me got him through "Soldier on with Codral soldier on, soldier on"

Hi, First day over. Through the start line about last after snapping my bag just before the horn went...amazing what a piece of string and a Austrian legend (franz) can do to piece it back together. They cut the course length by about 10km due to some rising rivers, so total distance was 32km, so a nice way to ease into the pain. After a few hills the course was mainly flat and a wee bit rocky, so not too bad underfoot. Probably went too fast for day 1, however you end up getting into a flow and chatting away to chaps on route (and yourself) and the kms started to roll away. You meet a load of quality people. Spent a bit of time with a guy called Nick who broke his back in 09. They sorted him out, put in some metal and now this is his third ultra. Hard as nails! Anyway, I rocked in about 1pm, 51st place (out of 161) in about 4.32, so all in all pretty happy. However going to ease back a little tomorrow (maybe). Life back in camp is chilled. We are staying in a little village and housed in their hall, which is going to be cosy. Tomorrow is going to be a bit harder with a few more bumps and a little longer. Would be great to tuck into a cold beer at the moment, however looks like a early bed, wack in the ear plugs (blocks out the snoring) and hopefully get some shut eye. Hope everyone is well back home (Sing and UK). Thanks for the emails guys. Until next time. Cheers Guy

Hi little ones, Daddy misses you loads.Went bear hunting today, however they are very fast and Daddy decided to go around the mud / sand and not through it. Have learnt my lesson and feeling that tomorrow will have more luck, if not you have permission to jump on me (not that you need it)! Love you lots. Look after mummy and tell her I miss her, love her and will send her a email tomorrow (as found out only allowed one blog/email a day). Love Daddy xxx

Ever since that bleep test back at Miffy I've known that you've got a high tolerance for phyical discomfort/ you are a beligerent bugger. Hope all that high humidity training in Sing has prepared you well. Fare well, eye of the tiger. Look forward to hearing all about it in August.

Happy Birthday mate and keep it up. 52nd out of 161 nutcases is a phenominal effot. I had your share of beer at beerfest over the weekend, so no need to worry about that. Going for a run up fort canning now, so I'll be empathising with you in a small way.

About to get on the bus to head out into the desert. They gave us a lecture this morning that got the old heart pumping and the nerves going. Just want to get started now. Looks like my tent will be a sound crew. Although we must all look pretty dodgy as they have guys with full on riot guys camped out downstairs!! Weighed in my bag and hitting 11kg, although not feeling bad about it as some chap is packing 15kg. Anyway time for some last minute packing. Big love to my little crew back in Sing and f/f everywhere else. G
