Gobi March (2011) blog posts from Lourens Roets

The past few weeks have been so hectic; however, reality hit me hard this morning when I realised it is suddenly less than a week to go before running 250 very long clicks through one of the hottest places on the planet (reaching 45-50 degrees C - bliksem!)

This week is down to finetuning some of the gear; e.g. sowing my nationality patches onto the shirts - in addition, to calibrate my mega-master calorie spreadsheet. If my maths are right, I'll burn around 6,000 - 8,000 calories on most of the normal days (the long day will probably be double that), while consuming around 2,800 calories a day. Bottom line, this sounds like an instant diet to me....

Anyway, spirits are high and body feels good....so far so good...
