Oh, and I got to ride a horse. I think I'll stick with running :-)
It's truly impressive how wonderfully simple life can be. I think that after every stage race, how much stuff I have—get rid of it. Gerhard will be happy when I get home and clean out :-)
So I'm enjoying my day today before the last 40 kilometers tomorrow, and I'm already really looking forward to it. Nothing hurts, I don't have any blisters, which is wonderful.
Your messages are wonderful, thank you to each and every one of you, and I'll be in touch with everyone after the race.
To the Uro team: I think I'll have a snack and cake on my first day back at work. Thanks for your messages and the motivation.
Kisses, Michi

Now a little bit about my long run. We ran over sand dunes up to the first checkpoint, which was really cool. Then a short river crossing, a little cooling off. The rain at the beginning was nothing, just pure heat. I made good progress up to checkpoint 6, then I got some stomach problems; we'd been given Coke, which I drank a bit too much. I had to walk a lot because I kept feeling like I was going to throw up. From checkpoint 7 onwards, I felt better again. I ran with Christian and we said we'd do it together because he was having a lot of trouble too, and I just didn't want to be alone anymore. I ran alone all week, so the change was good. The fast men were too fast for me after all :-)
I was so happy when I reached the finish line that I cried. After that, a terrible storm came up, and we all had to get on buses. A short time later, we were evacuated because it was too dangerous. Everything was superbly organized and acted upon very quickly. We're currently staying in a sports hall, which is also very nice here. The race was canceled, and the participants who were still on the way were collected. The storm was simply too severe, and I thought RTP made absolutely the right decision.
I just found out we can return to camp.
Thank you so much for your messages.
You're the best,
michi

Our run was shortened to 22 km today. I don't think anyone was offended; it's incredibly strenuous. But such a cool run today, with so much variety. First we went up the mountains and then into the desert. That was really cool; I've never run in sand before. Because it rained so much yesterday, I didn't sink into the sand and it was cool to run. The last few kilometers got really hot again. Tomorrow for the long run, they've forecast rain for the whole day, which will be great, and I'm really looking forward to it. Because I love running in the rain, I'll be thinking a lot about my Sandra.
Thanks for your lovely messages; there'll be more to report tomorrow or the day after. Now it's time to relax and chat.
Best wishes and hugs to you all

Michi

Stage 1 was brutally hot. I made good progress between checkpoints 1 and 2. Then came a climb that was so brutal; I've never taken so long to climb a mountain.
The view was incredible, so beautiful. But no cooling off in sight. The Racing the Planet team is incredibly organized; there was always water to refill between checkpoints. I didn't have to pee once. As a gynaecologist, I was already feeling really scared and anxious.
The downhill was very cool, and seeing so many wild horses was simply unbelievably beautiful; this vastness, such an incredibly beautiful country.
From checkpoint 3 onward, it was another real test of mental strength on the way home; the 8 kilometers can drag on.
A wonderful adventure that I'm getting to experience here. Best wishes to you at home and to the entire Racing the Planet team; the incredible work and organization that's being put together here.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Eure Michi
