Well done son, you're doing a fantastic job. Crossing fingers for you on the long march. Glad you were able to have a bit of company yesterday, guess there's only so much scenery you can take in. Be a fantastic experience to look back on. Hope the legs hold out...

Great effort Fox, but you better finish in the top 3 cuz they don't make medals for the 5th place

We are all so proud of you babe! By now the weight of your beard must be overtaking the weight of your pack. :) Kids are fine, they miss you so much. Callum said the new Dr Seuss book reminded him of you ... 'Here are some, who like to run. They run for fun, in the hot hot Sun.' Keep running, keep smiling! Xxx

Preparation and training

Running is one of the most pure and simple sports, all you need is a pair of trainers, some shorts and a t-shirt right?

Doing well sweetie, rising up the rankings. Marvellous experience, so glad you did it. It's lovely just to watch your progress - and less tiring!

I feel so lazy, even reading about what you are doing sounds tiring. Go for it, you are only 40 for a year

It's almost here, less than a month to go, seriously is that all?

So for me this has been a long time coming, I almost signed up last year then couldn't make it due to other commitments, I've been running ultra marathons for about 7 years now but this is my first ever multi day stage race. Since I live in Hong Kong it's the closest one to me which made sense as a good place to start.

My experience so far has gone like this...

Why? You're crazy, who would want to do that? You could die! I just don't understand what would make anyone want to run across a desert for a week! and so on and so forth.....

It seems I am destined to be labelled a crazy person by my colleagues. Still the questions come daily as they see me yet again leaving the office after work with a big heavy bag on my back

WHY? is one of the most common questions asked of people who do 4 Deserts Races and this is one of the best answers I've seen.
