Day 3 is complete, can you believe it? Today was triple digits temperature, really hard terrain, and good old cry at the finish. The onlyway to end a really good, hard day.
We had a 14 run through some crazy ground and then went up, capping the day with another 14 miles through sand dunes, and mountains. Everyday they tell us it

Hi everyone! Thank you for your awesome notes and comments.
Today went much smoother with a 21 or 22nd place finishing. A long way to go but definitely a step in the right direction. It was so much fun, I cant wait to tell you in person. We ran through rivers in canyons, past crazy giant boulders, and up up up a giant mountain, through a tunnel and then down a crazy sand dune. What a blast. Started to get really hot in the afternoon but just took it easy and chugged on through. Chuga chuga baby.
I think camp is the temperature of the sun. >105 in the tent!
We are looking forward to the sun going down.
The shoes are holding well. Only a small blister on the heel, but my toe nails are suergross again.
My bottle holder is fixed andjust had first dinner. Great posts Melissa, you are an awesome sister. Honey-don

Hi eveyone! I hope this blog finds everyone happy and healthy.
It took 2 days to travel to san pedro de Atacama in chile. What a fantastic place. There is an old town that looks like something out of the good the bad and the ugly. But instead of gunfights, there are cool shops and restaurants. There are hundreds of dogs, yes dogs, that seem to be community owned and very well fed. They even run with you when you go out on jogs.
Yesterday we arrived at camp 1. It is spectacular here. Think of the grand canyon on mars, only at very high elevation and brighter than anything we get in phoenix.
I had a rough day today on the course. Immediately, my backpack malfunctioned, yes honey it was the reworked bottle holder which impacted my running gate. My time was good until the final 3rd of the course. I ran out of water and overheated. Trudging up the last montain with martin from Canada. My good friend brett made sure I made it to the finalcheckpoint and another good friend inia took me the rest of the way. Checkpoint 3 had anamazing team that gaveme water, spritzedme, blaste music, and got me going, thanks mrbrammer and the checkpoint 3 team.
What a disappointment. Good thing we have 6 more days of this.
I Feel good now and will be ready to rock tomorrow. My plan is to easy jog checkpoint 1, assess, snd then kick it up for the last part of the course. Don
