I'm so sorry to write this BLOG but after much deliberation and thought our team have decided not to come to chile to race. It dosnt feel the right time to be going there to race, we can go and run another time. Our hearts are just not in it. We fully support all of your decisions to go ahead with the race and not let down all you own charities and sponsors but hope you all understand that for some it dosnt feel the right time to be going there. We will not be asking for a refund but instead, would like all our fees to go to the disaster fund that chris sharrock has set up. Good look with it all, with love annabelle, lucy and sissel

RTP BREAKING NEWS : THE RACE IS STILL ON
Racing the Planet supports small businesses in San Pedro so at least another place in Chile will not be losing out. So I have 2 more nights before I leave Hong Kong for Calama via Auckland and Santiago.
Did the twins and back today with Belles, and the Bond clan, I lagged behind them but finished it. Most importantly i enjoyed it. So lets hope this same things applies to Ata!
Heres hoping we all arrive in time.

Are we right to waltz into Chile and run a race? The Foreign office at the moment say No, http://ukinchile.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/travel-advice/ta-chile/
Perhaps we are a hindrance if any of us get sick on the race? But we are raising money for other Charities that need the money? What is right, what is wrong?
Half of me says dont be so wet just go ahead and run your race, perhaps raise funds for Chile too.
Half of me says staying away from the country would be a wise thing to do whilst they are in this terrible disaster the last thing they need is RTP going out there?
We wait and see for the next update. But I wish i was a nurse or someone who could just go to Santiago and help. Is there a way we can without hindering .........

Hi Lucy, thanks for your comments. We are also leaving HK on Tuesday late afternoon. We're scheduled on CX via New York which has its own problems because of excess snow! Do please pass the word around about fund-raising for Chile - I have the go-ahead from Mary G. Look forward to meeting up. Chris

Awesome gym circuit training session today with Ben Salter at IFC gym today. I use the Pure fitness as I've been a member for 5 years and have only used the yoga part normally as I like to do exercise outside but I need extra core and circuit training on top of just run/walking the hills so I sought out Ben. He's brilliant, English and ex Marines so pretty focused on what I need to do without too much unecessary chat and proper advice. Love it as I am definately pushing the boundaries to the max on my fitness levels. Also it takes the boredom out of just running outside on my own when I don't have the great outdoor personal trainer Peter Lee , also ex army, pushing my endurance levels up those hills outside in Hong Kong! That also gets me thanking someone else here in Hong Kong and that's my stretch master, Alvin at stretch Studio. A must if your lazy like me and want to prevent injuries from either over stretching or under on your own at home. Thanks to my team in Hong Kong you all inspire me and with luck will get me to the end of the year having reached my goal in being able to finish all Racing the planet deserts in under one year as the first all girl team? Here's hoping and praying. And last but not least thankyou to Doug Horne. He is the best foot podiatrist ever. He helped David too and works miracles. Thankyou all of you, you really are the best.

KONG HEY FAT CHOY! TIGER YEAR HERE WE ARE! Sitting in bed enjoying the last day of the Chinese holdiay and reading all the atacama blogs and trying to stay relaxed! Specially after reading Rob James organised well thought out training schedules leaves me with fear. But, this always happens! Last few weeks get into a panic, over order stuff, panic runs, Belles comes out and winds me up too much and i freak out! LOVE YOU BELLES but not enough time now to pack hard runs in.
Umm must make a mental note that i must breath, relax and enjoy all the things that go to the run up to the race and not freak out. Whatever training i have or have not done i cant change anything so just go out there, enjoy the race and go for the finish line.

Lucy, recovery and final preparations now just as important, if not more so, than last minute panic training. I need to spend less running and more time relaxing ;-) You\'ll be fine.

I have completed with my wonderful team Sissel Smaller, and Annabelle Bond, the Racing The Planet Namibia race and the Sahara race and thought wouldnt it be a good idea to try to do all deserts as an all girl team? Well its 7 weeks and 3 days and im still not as fit as i would like to be! Im running about 15k 5 days a week in the sand here in Phuket barefeet, and when I get back to Hong Kong next week i shall put my shoes on and try and do the same distances along with a spin class here and there and some yoga and some stretch and perhaps a swim or tennis here and there but, ............. I just dont feel really fit? The wonderful trainer i have in Hong Kong whom i call nutter Pete(!), because hes like zeberdee on speed tries to get me going faster but i feel i am just a slow old snail compared to him and anyone who i run with? I know my team want to get me to go faster so anyone out there any tips on how to get this old mule to go faster..........
All Im looking forward to is the scenerey and meeting you all.Not really condusive to getting a time and putting my head down!
Anyone who hasnt done a Racing the Planet event before welcome in, its a great bunch of people who take part.

Sounds to me like you are doing pretty well at 15km a go! I can only manage 3x 9-11km during the week in the snow, ice, slush, rain and fog of London (oh for the white sand of Phuket!) and mostly in the dark with a one long one of 18-25km at the weekend in the snow and happily sunlight. Starting to do some back to backs at that distance but last one took its toll on the joints. I also do yoga and pilates at least once a week as well as a bit of cross trainer and bike in the gym. You sound like you are well ahead or maybe I am well behind!

Lucy,
I'd have a chat to Pete as soon as you are back here in HK....but my advice, as he'll be in Atacama, just get a bungee and he can tow you.
I have got Rowley hooked on spin classes - he is suitably impressed.
