Well i think im getting there.....hopefully!!!??? but not quite Caballo blanco yet...

im really not sure of what distance i should be covering now, but im cranking up the mileage every week. Couple that with a long endurance and functional training session with my old faithful 8kg medicine ball and a ball busting power session every week, hopefully my body is getting near of fitness i need to push through this event.

It better be as it costing me plenty of KGs in body weight!!! AGGHHH im fading away and my body is turning into a runners body!!!!

A worry i have (hopefully someone reading this can advise me) is on HEAT, im trying to get access to somewhere to train in some heat is proving quite difficult. (british weather is now heading towards zero degrees so outside is hopeless to acclimatise)....has anyone any ideas?

I also seam to be spending far to long miling over what shoes/gaiters and bag to carry.....AAGGHHH!!!! again any ideas would be very welcome.

Until the next time...

Hi James, I'm sure you are almost ready for Atacama. Not sure about me, but trying to get fitter and adding more miles everyweek. From the first day I bought my Montrail/masochist shoes, I found them the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever wore. So far so good and no blisters, even when I ran my 33km with my back pack on a rockie trail. I'm using an OMM 25lt back pack, the same so far so good. Would you like to meet up sometime in december, it would be nice to meet some of the fellow runners before the event. I live near Guildford, Surrey. Take care, keep training. Marilena

Finally paid to enter this event!!! Now the realism of the magnitude of this event has just hit home....like a baseball bat banging me on the back of the head!!! ouch!!

Can someone tell me "why, im doing this" , because thats all im asked when i mention to people what im training for.....

I think its a question that a lot of us cannot answer, or do not want to attempt to answer...all i know is that its out there to be completed so why not give it some and see how you fair against  a challenge like the Atacama crossing.

Im not going to write too much today, as im off out to train....but just thought i would start to get some communication down for people that are following my progress.

So here we go!!!!!! speak soon....

hahaha i am getting asked that all the time. There really isn't a good answer so i've found it really tough to explain. Best of luck with your training
