Lisa,
When times get tough, the tough get going. You subscribe to that 100% and I am so proud of you.
Here is a short story. At my lowest stage in my cancer treatment my nurse asked me why I did so well. He told me he had 20 year old patients that were curled up in a ball and would not eat or exercise at all and he questioned how a 73 year old could just carry on and keep a cheerful attitude..
I told him that I had many mates in Viet Nam prison camps who were tortured almost every single day for years. They endured terrible punishment which took them close to death, yet they came through.
I told my nurse and doctors that if they could survive that, I could surely survive a clean bed, good food, and people who cared for me. It was a no brainer. When I felt sick I just took some exercise no matter how small it was and no matter how much I just wanted to stay in bed. It was my way to overcome the blahs.
Your next few days may be rough, but I absolutely know that you will power through with the same spirit.
Thinking of you,
David

Doritos and mac&cheese with truffle salt... whatttt!!! How did you manage such delicacies in an 8kg pack (half the weight of Rich's too.. i suppose he would have more make-up to put on in the mornings). Keep it up Lisa!! :)

Hi Lisa. From reading the 4 Desserts Race Series emails, yesterday sounded grueling. Was that an understatement? Hope your Hokas are holding out and that your tootsies are on the mend - keep visiting the medics...Good luck for today - will keep reading the emails to check your progress. Remember, don't just do it, embrace it. Can't wait to see your photos. Love you so very, very much Mum, Pop et Tess xox

Hello Lisa! Am hearing daily updates on yours and Rich's progress from Sam - looks like you are having a great time, tough but fun! I'm quite jealous not to be there, it's a cool place, makes you feel far from anywhere. Also looks like you both got through the awful coral type ground yesterday, that was really hard work and felt endless. Get through Day 4 and you know you're going to finish the rest, so all the best.
If you see Ash, the Canadian going on Iranian, say hello and mention he appears to have dropped off the pace a bit! Knowing you, you've already met him. And his buddy, Hernan - he helped me a lot last year.....
Shall be watching you smash it and climb the leaderboard - enjoy the rest of your time out there.
Paul

Hey Lisa, you're doing so great! I feel very happy for you when I read how it is going for you and Rich. It seems you're super prepared and enjoying every part of the race. I'll continue following your steps and hoping you both cross the line as I'm sure you will. Keep it up!!
PS: We still remember the fun times in Sydney! Next round of wine + massive Thai food is on us.

Waw Lisa! You're doing great, but that's no surprise at all :)
Whenever you feel tired or hungry, think about a good cheese and wine dinner, what else do you want in the desert? ;)

Good Morning Lisa. Love your Blogs, Beautiful Girl. Informative, funny and scary and, above all, inspirational! The terrain in the last stage sounded "varied" (best adjective I could think of to describe ice cold water, the biggest sand dune I've ever seen and "uneven terrain" - you are becoming the master of the understatement!). A really long day and some hot weather at the end, but you seem upbeat - probably helped by Pedro in the latter stages (don't feed the dog!).
Dad's Quote of the Day: " Your body will argue that there is no justifiable reason to continue. Your only recourse is to call on your spirit, which, fortunately, functions independently of logic" Go Girl!
PS. Feed the medics - They rock!
PPS. What have you said to the official photographer? He is purposefully ignoring the most photogenic lady in the race! Does he know what he's missing? xxx

Well done Lisa - you rock! Sounds like the medics do too.... Love reading your blogs. The emails from the 4 Dessert Team are great reading too, keeping us updated whilst you're on the move. Photos are brilliant. Please can you do an air shot with them so I can recognize you? Keep safe and listen to your body. Love you so very, very much Mum, Pop et Tess xox
