Lisa, I think I posted this in the wrong place. I'll try here. Lisa, When times get tough, the tough get going. You subscribe to that 100% and I am so proud of you. Here is a short story. At my lowest stage in my cancer treatment my nurse asked me why I did so well. He told me he had 20 year old patients that were curled up in a ball and would not eat or exercise at all and he questioned how a 73 year old could just carry on and keep a cheerful attitude.. I told him that I had many mates in Viet Nam prison camps who were tortured almost every single day for years. They endured terrible punishment which took them close to death, yet they came through. I told my nurse and doctors that if they could survive that, I could surely survive a clean bed, good food, and people who cared for me. It was a no brainer. When I felt sick I just took some exercise no matter how small it was and no matter how much I just wanted to stay in bed. It was my way to overcome the blahs. Your next few days may be rough, but I absolutely know that you will power through with the same spirit. Thinking of you, David My current health update at vogls.weebly.com

Hey Lisa lees you are doing incredibly well hon - your blisters sound reeeeeeally sore but thank goodness the medical team are looking after you - honestly hon you are just amazing I have no idea how you can do it - Utter admiration - your on the last stretch now hon well over half way keep going my lovely and think of lying in the Sunshine and chillaxing!! Remember what Walt Disney said 'If you can dream it, you can do it' love you millions and squillions we are all thinking about you lots of love SNHA xxxx

What you are doing is incredible, in total awe, can't wait to see some of your pics and despite the blisters, sweat and tears sounds like you're have a hoot too! Thank crap for doritos and the medics at the end of every day. Keep trekking, hydrating and laughing my gorgeous friend xxx

Hey Lis' Look, I know you've been running in the beach for a while now, but life's not exactly a bed of roses over here either. I just came out of my 12th meeting of the day (twelve!), this included 7 meetings before lunch (think 7 deserts, but with more sitting), a lot of politics, some sucking up and a fair amount of doodling. Not only that, but during the day I didn't even have time to go for lunch so my PA had to go and get a sandwich for me (chicken schnitzel ciabatta with ham and melted cheese, if you were wondering). Meanwhile....there you are showering in waterfalls, running hundreds of miles through hot sand, putting your body and mind on the line for charity and inspiring people all over the shop . I mean, it's basically the...yes, okay, not the same ait all. There is no end to the admiration I have for what you've done - and will do. May the tape be true and your blisters few. Thoughts of support for you each day. Keep it up Lis'... Kx

Dearest Lisa. You brave girl. I'm eating nuts and raisins whilst reading your blog as it's exhausting hearing how far you've come. Praise the Lord for those amazing docs putting your little body back together - your feet anyway. Do they manage to take the pain away too? Hope they're en route for todays journey. So pleased that you have found a buddy in Shelley helping you through - it really is a team effort - phew! Hope you managed to get lots of sleep last night ready for today. You are AMAZING! So very proud of you and each day I see you complete another leg I am in awe of your strength and commitment to this. Have the desert doggies stayed with you and made the journey too? Where do they live normally? I can't imagine the poor things just living in the desert with no humans to look after them. Our fur-babies have very sheltered lives its seems compared to the desert dogs. Goodluck for Day 5. Take your time, take care of those feet and think of the Doritos waiting for you at camp. Hi Precious. Just read your blog (post stage 4). Mum and I were concerned about radio silence, but your decision to go for Medicare over communication was spot on! Saw that you had finished Stage 3 with Shelley (henceforth known as "The Amazing Shelley"), and, after reading the Breaking News about the noisy tent and its occupants, I put two and two together and realized you had found a soulmate (Tell her to open a Blog, so that I can thank her - in the meantime give her a hug from me). Although the times for Stage 4 have not yet been posted, its good to know about the shower - race time well used! Thought for the day: The world population has just hit 7.5 billion, that makes you and each of your fellow runners (roughly) one in 100 million, million! Add to that, the work you're doing for the Starlight Kids and that makes you one in 7.5 Billion (that's as close to unique that you can get!). Hope today (Day 5) goes well for you, and you're reading this after another amazing day in a very special place that only a handful ( one in... etc, etc, ) of people have ever seen, never mind ran crazy distances in! Keep safe, Love, Dad xxx PS. Mum says I needn't have bothered with the research and the calculation! She's always known you're unique! Lol x

Hey super cuddler - take care of those feet cause I am looking forward to some long walks with you in Singapore. Mum says you inspired her in the gym this morning when the trainer almost killed her - she remembered what you are doing and did another round of burpees - she loves them so much! Forgot to add that I have spent some time in the Atacama as a tourist so know just how hostile the terrain and conditions can be. Running for 7 days there, wow hats off to you!! Inspirational stuff.

Hello Lisa! Am hearing daily updates on yours and Rich's progress from Sam - looks like you are having a great time, tough but fun! I'm quite jealous not to be there, it's a cool place, makes you feel far from anywhere. Also looks like you both got through the awful coral type ground yesterday, that was really hard work and felt endless. Get through Day 4 and you know you're going to finish the rest, so all the best. If you see Ash, the Canadian going on Iranian, say hello and mention he appears to have dropped off the pace a bit! Knowing you, you've already met him. And his buddy, Hernan - he helped me a lot last year..... Shall be watching you smash it and climb the leaderboard - enjoy the rest of your time out there. Paul

Good Morning Lisa. Love your Blogs, Beautiful Girl. Informative, funny and scary and, above all, inspirational! The terrain in the last stage sounded "varied" (best adjective I could think of to describe ice cold water, the biggest sand dune I've ever seen and "uneven terrain" - you are becoming the master of the understatement!). A really long day and some hot weather at the end, but you seem upbeat - probably helped by Pedro in the latter stages (don't feed the dog!). Dad's Quote of the Day: " Your body will argue that there is no justifiable reason to continue. Your only recourse is to call on your spirit, which, fortunately, functions independently of logic" Go Girl! PS. Feed the medics - They rock! PPS. What have you said to the official photographer? He is purposefully ignoring the most photogenic lady in the race! Does he know what he's missing? xxx
