Congrats for getting as far as you did on such an arduous adventure. I can't wait to hear the details and if this is possible for the average person. Enjoyed reading your blog. You did what most wouldn't even try. Area ( met at Sierra Crest)

I've been following all the blogs of this amazing, crazy event, and so admire all of the strength-both inner and outer that you -the competitors possess! I'm sorry to hear that you had to withdraw, but as Dr Greg's Mom, I've go to tell you I'm thrilled to know he helped you :) You're amazing even if you didn't get to finish the entire event!!

Glad you're getting good medical attention, Bruce. Love the FaceTime visits with you so I can see for myself that you're all right. And you're really ALL RIGHT for accomplishing 75 miles in 3 days and under extremely challenging circumstances. I know you would have finished had it not been for the pesky foot fracture. Hope you get to squeeze in on a tour tomorrow. Have a good time with your new friends at the celebration dinner on Saturday. You truly have something to celebrate! I look forward to your homecoming. Love you -- a lot.

When? Who? What? ... not all champions have to get to the end of the line. Today's question is: What place in this world can have their temperatures Fahrenheit and Celsius equal? wait... can you read without glasses? see you soon! be safe!

Hi Bruce, you can get rid of effervescing electrolytes. Get some Hammer Endurolytes ones. http://www.hammernutrition.com/products/endurolytes-reg.elt.html. They have been working very well for me, just carry them in a small plastic bag, get rid of the pack. You will need 1 to 3 per hour depending how you react to those. I personally need 1 per hour. It may be slightly higher in Atacama at it will be hot during the day. Are you planning to have a 25lbs bag? It looks very heavy. I have only ran one 4 desert before, but as I recall, it has a massive impact on the performance over the week. YOu can cleary see that the competitors having heavy pack suffer more. You don't need much more than the mandatory items for the week apart from a sleeping mat to isolate you from the cold in my opinion, and maybe a warm top to ensure you stay warm during the night. See you there

Hey Bruce I just saw a realllllly old comment from you back in Dec! I'm so sorry, terrible with technology and didn't realize you had posted a comment! Did you get a chance to run up in Lassen? I'm trying to get up there myself but haven't had a chance to do it yet.

Hi Bruce, love seeing the pics from up in the Sierras. We live in Paradise CA so it's kind of in our back yard, love it up there! I was just in Tahoe at TRT a few weeks back and it was pretty awesome. Keep up the hard work and see you soon in Chile - nice to see another Californian will be joining in the fun :)

Good runs this weekend. 15.5 Saturday with the 21# pack. Then went to Yosemite, running 10.2 at an altitude of about 8,500 feet. Felt good and still feel good today. Starting to be more confident in my health and abilities. Added 4 Lbs to my pack today for a 10 mile run before work.

Great to read your first blog Bruce, although sorry to hear about your injury. Sounds like you have a great plan to get you to the start line fit and ready. While you have some time start looking at shoes and food - they, together with the pack, are key and good to start researching and testing early. Happy New Year.
