  • Competitors need to arrive by Friday, 13 August 2027 at any time.
  • The first official meeting is on Saturday, 14 August.
  • You are ready to leave on Sunday, 22 August at any time.

Getting to Salvador

RacingThePlanet: Brazil participants are responsible for securing their own flights and transportation to Salvador.

Salvador is one of Brazil’s best connected northeastern gateways, with direct international flights from Lisbon (Portugal), Madrid (Spain), Paris (France), Panama City, Buenos Aires and Montevideo, alongside frequent domestic services from across Brazil’s major cities, in particular Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

There are two main ways to travel to Salvador.

There are direct flights into Salvador from:

• Lisbon, Portugal (daily)

• Madrid, Spain (3 per week)

• Paris, France (3 per week)

• Panama City (5 per week)

1. Fly into Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo

2. Take a 2-hr domestic flight to Salvador

  • Rio to Salvador = 6 flights per day
  • Sao Paulo to Salvador = 10 flights per day

International Route Options

From Europe:

  • The best option is to fly from Lisbon (Portugal), Madrid (Spain) and Paris (France) where you can get a direct flight to Salvador. Note that flights from Madrid and Paris do not go every day.
  • Alternatively, most European cities fly into Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro from where you can choose from more than 6 daily flights to Salvador.

From North America:

  • The best option is to fly to Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, and then take a domestic flight to Salvador.
    • Direct flights to Sao Paulo from New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Washington DC, Chicago, Toronto and Calgary (seasonal).
    • Direct flights to Rio de Janeiro from New York, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Toronto and Montreal
  • Alternatively, you can fly through Panama City directly to Salvador.
    • Direct flights to Panama City from Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York (JFK/EWR), Orlando, Tampa, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Toronto and Calgary.
    • Note – there is only one flight per day from Panama City to Salvador.

From Asia:

  • The best option is to fly through the United States or Middle East to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then take a domestic flight to Salvador. •
  • You can also choose to fly through Europe and either fly directly to Salvador from Portugal, Spain (Madrid) or Paris (France).
    • From Japan – fly through the United States to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then to Salvador
    • From Hong Kong – fly through Doha to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then to Salvador
    • From Korea – fly through Turkey or the United States to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then to Salvador
    • From China – fly through Doha to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then to Salvador

From Australia and New Zealand:

  • Australia – fly through Santiago in Chile to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then to Salvador
  • New Zealand – fly through Doha to Sao Paulo / Rio de Janeiro, and then to Salvador

From South America:

  • The best option is to fly into Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro and then take a domestic flight to Salvador.
  • Alternatively, there are direct flights to Salvador from Buenos Aires (Argentina), Montevideo (Uruguay) as well as the following cities in Brazil: Brasilia, Recife and Belo Horizonte
