After the long day, there where a restday, and it was so great to chill out in the camp, and have much more time to chat with people. In the evening the local volunteers found their instruments and started to play. Many of us crowded around the campfire, and it was a really great and relaxed atmostphere.

Yesterday day where the long day! And it was tough. The course there days have been hard on legs because of all the sand we have been running in. Camille thanks a lot for a tough intense training plan. I have send you many thoughts and happy smiles for all the long weekend training runs, you put into the training plan. And Ross I have found it quite fun to find then obstacles on the course, which you have trained my muscles for. To see what we have done in gym work out on a trail was dame fun

Today where extremely fun and tough!!!
Starting with 8 km of constant river crossing. It was cold and a little challenging, because there was a lot of current in the water. Sometimes my feet got so cold that I where thinking when will my feet ever get warm again, but that is actually an total unnecessary concern, in a hot and dry dessert, takes only a few seconds. After that is was up, up and more up...and it was so much worse it because on the other side there where a huge sand dune, which we could fly down of - that was fun!!! If it had not been a race, then I think I would have walked up to try again!!!
Check points are the best, I am so impressed about the all the people standing out in the heat so cheer us up and give us water. Today there where a lot of service already at checked point, where Riitta stopped me to re-apply my sunscreen.
We are total 170 runners, which is great, because I can meet people all the the time. On the last 20 km, the course where less inspiring than the first part, so I entertained myself by spotting people in the horizon, and then see how fast I could get up to them.
I didn't finish before 3:30pm today, and I felt it had taken forever. At that time approx. 20% of the runners had finished (total of all men and ladies. So at least it was not only me being out there for so long. I where very exhausted when I finished, but now my body starts to fell normal again, and I am getting ready for another day in the trail. Feet are fine, and legs are ok.
Tak Rikke, dine 2,5 km er super godt, bare bliv ved med at bygge stille og roligt op.

Back in a dessert - jubiiiiii
Everything is so different from the race in Gobi and it seems to be just as interesting and fun. Already meet a lot of great people! And the scenery here is really fantastic.
I am extremely humble about this race because the conditions are so different from everything I have tried before. HR is so much higher than when I run in HK and I get tired faster. - so yes Anna, there have been some work done on calming down myself. At the same time everything is just so amazing and beautiful.
I have been total overwhelmed about the support, which I have got from colleagues, friends, families and trainers before going here, thanks a million! It means a lot......Also thanks a lot for all the comments on this blog.
Today where a 36 km run, starting in 3200 m altitude, and running down to 2600 m altitude. With some running up and downs. I thought it would be an easy start, but I had to rethink that during the day, It started very cold, it is just freezing in the morning...So it was keeping a lot of cloth on during race briefing and then a fast repack of bag. Very soon after race start it got fantastic temperature and my speed where great -so yes, Katherine, running like the wind J. And I had fun running in the Canyons and crawling under a fallen rock, it was all really great. But, then it became extremely hot, and the run with high HR started to feel tough, so it was more running like a cloud = moving very calm. At that time I where luckily quite close to camp.
The welcome at the camp, where just fantastic! One of the volunteer took my backpack, asked me to sit in the shadow and drink cold water, and then she carried my backpack down to my tent. That was better than winning in lotto......
Now I have had some hours of rest and getting ready for tomorrow, and runners keep coming in, after having many more hours in the dry heat. That must be really tough.
Tomorrow a lot of cool down is waiting for us with 8km running with constant river crossing, and that water is just surprisingly cold - looking forward to get on the trail again.
