...I have the courage to start up a blog, four months after I decided to register for the race. Back in August, I had no idea what I would get myself into. I haven't even completed a 10km race before, for God's sake. No one would ever think I'll be doing a 7-day, 250km, fully self-support race in the desert half-way around the world.
But within these four months, I was slowly gaining my endurance. I finished my first 10km race under 50 minutes. Climbed the second and third highest peak in Hong Kong under 5 hours. Hiked for 42km fully self-supported in 7 hours. Walked for 50km at night time in 11 hours. And I’ll be competing in my first marathon next month. Whew, I think I’ve accomplished a lot in a very short time. But with the event only 2 months away, I still have a lot to do in preparation for the race.
Here’s what I’ve been doing so far for my training:
Monday – rest (my favorite activity)
Tuesday – 15km run with a loaded backpack
Wednesday – cross-training such as cycling, weight-training, yoga, etc.
Thursday – 15km run without backpack
Friday – rest
Saturday – 30km or more hike with loaded backpack
Sunday – 20km or more hike with loaded backpack
How does my training plan look? Any suggestions?
