Well done Mate. That's one hell of an achievement that will no doubt have a positive impact on you for any future challenges you face. Glad to hear that the messages of support got through to you and spurred you on. Gutted to miss your call last night, as it would have been good to share the moment but no doubt we will get the opportunity to hear about the highs and the lows of the experience when you get back. Enjoy the moment and sink a few beers and let us know when your back home. Take Care Matt & Family.

Hi J, I've just read that Catherine can't run the last stage and that Ian and others are carrying her to the end - I hope she's ok. Hope you are too and have totally enjoyed your Atacama adventure!!! See you soon, T & M xxx

Fantastic - you're doing brilliantly! You've been mentioned quite a few times in the daily write ups which are good to read. Apparently Ian & Cat were last in today to resounding cheers from everyone at camp - good for them!. The comaraderie sounds top notch as you're all cheering each other on! Hope this last 'little' stage is fun then you can party the night away (if you can stay awake!!). See you soon, love T & M xx

Well done J. I've really felt for you this time. It must have been really hard for you, don't know how you kept it together. Really proud of you. Just one more to go. Bottle of tomato sauce waiting for you when you get back beats champagne. J

Well done mate, We're off out tomorrow night so we'll have a beer on your behalf. Keep it going and see you when you return. Good luck for the final stage. Matt

Hiya! According to the 'breaking news' you've completed stage 4 (and have arrived back in the first 25!!!!). I hope you're not running yourself ragged!! Good for you though! You can rest up and get your fat napper down now - ready for stage 5 tomorrow (that's the long one I think). You're doing brilliantly!!! T xx

G'Day Mick, That’s one hell of an experience you’re getting out there! I bet that Mongolian restaurant in Ossy looks appealing now!! All your exploits are making me feel lazy so I might just hit the gym tonight ~ I've got a feeling that the treadmill may be a little easier that the salt flats! Hope the ankle keeps holding up and best of luck for stage 4. My Mum & Dad are back from holiday tonight so I’ll get them onto your blog. All the family are asking how you’re getting on and can’t wait to hear your story at the next barbeque. Take care and keep posting Matt P.S. Re your gators it could be worse ~ you could be running in the tyre shoes the guys in Last Man Standing used in Mexico!!

Posted On: 22 Aug 2007 08:33 am

Hiya J, Stage 4 already!! Bet it doesn't seem so quick for you though eh?! It says on the write up that you came in around 31st yesterday - that's such an achievement, well done!! I'm glad you're appetite has returned - it must give you a bit of extra energy (and also help to lighten your load as you eat!!). Hope the salt flats aren't too unforgiving and you're ankle doesn't cause you too much grief. We miss you and are extremely proud of you, T & M xxx

Posted On: 22 Aug 2007 07:05 am

Me again. Told Ian all about your problem with your ankle, and basically he said you should RICE. In case you don't know what that means, it means rest, ice compress and elevate. He says that by doing this your ankle should be right in no time. With regards to the tomatoc sauce he said that he thinks that on the salt flats that there is a Spar that you can nip into, or if you miss that half way along there is a Macky D's. Any way he said stop being such a gaylord and get on with it. J

Posted On: 22 Aug 2007 06:08 am

Come on J, stay focused. You know you can do this. You are half way there now and the finish is in sight. Well done for yesterday, just think you are doing a lot better than most. Keep plodding in, don't give that ankle to much grief. We are all rooting for you. Chin up and onwards and upwards. J

Keep taking the experience and the scenery in, as it will be over before you know it. Keep your spirits up and keep posting, Take Care Matt

Have just checked out the video footage - can't spot you yet but I'll keep looking. The terrain looks really varied and challenging! You're gonna feel so amazing when you reach the end!!!! We're cheering you on all the way! T & M xx

Well done again! You sound like you're really enjoying it despite the conditions and lack of appetite (and being completely shattered)! You're doing so well! Have just seen Don who has been keeping up to date by checking your blog. He sends his regards - he is excited for you and is spurring you on!! Just had first session at nursery - Marcia loved it! Good luck with stage 3 - nearly halfway there!!!! Bye for now, T & M xx

Posted On: 21 Aug 2007 06:06 am

Congratulations on round 2. You sound absolutely exhausted and mentally drained. Let's hope Stage 3 isn't as demanding. We are all thinking about you. Hope the blisters don't give you too much trouble. Good Luck. J

Well done J! It sounds like it's been really tough (not to mention the mega cold night before with little sleep for everyone) but you're staying positive as ever!! 1st stage done - you're already closer to the finish!!! Good luck with the icy rivers. Everyone was asking about you yesterday and wishes you well. T & M xxxx

Well, by verbal accounts over this mornings desayuno, I am led to believe that many are taking part in pre-race carbo loading at the local pub!!!

Was good to talk to you earlier today. Just to let you know - I won't be going to Windsor tomorrow afterall. Me and Marcia are going to do something else exciting instead (closer to sunny Oswaldtwistle!!!!!). Sounds like you're meeting some good eggs! Ace!! Bye for now, T & M xx

Posted On: 17 Aug 2007 02:46 pm

Flaming hell J, you're gonna have to get that heart rate down. I mean 65 bpm, you'll be having a heart attack if you're not careful. Looked after Marcia last night, she didn't like Ian, he had to leave the room. Still keeping up with the exercises, keep getting this nagging voice in the back of my head, telling me to get on with it. Good luck for Sunday. J

Sounds like you're having a good time - before the real fun starts!! The altitude effect must be hardwork but you've got another couple of days to get used to it. You are missed but we can't wait to cheer you on! T & M xxx

Hi Jamie Looks like we'll be tent mates in Chile. Hope we don't require any of your Ninja skills to fend off blood thirsty Alpacas! Campbell

Jamie, I understand exactly where you're coming from. I hated running while I was serving and never ever went out of my own accord. It's only since I've left that I've discovered what a pleasure it is to run. Looking forward to seeing you in Chile! Alex
