Stay safe trig! Best wishes to owen. I'm following your progress via the website. Amazing stuff, very inspiring. I'm getting better and doing my rehab. Every day I go for my walk I think about when you did your leg and you'd tell me every time I saw you that you'd be fine. You would be so positive and I use that myself. Keep it up, stay safe and there are lots of us following your progress. Scott

I thought I would update everyone as I know Trig has been unable to post any blogs in the past couple of days and we have all been anxious. I have just spoken to Owen who had to stop after 3 days of throwing up and not able to keep any food or drink down so was severely dehydrated and it was not safe for him to continue. He said he was with Trig until stage 3 yesterday and although Owen had to drop out at that point Trig continued and battled his way to the finish due to sheer guts and determination. He was also dehydrated by that point. Trig you are doing amazingly and our thoughts are with you and we are sending loads of positive energy and love across to you. So try to imagine that all that heat you are suffering is us sending you the energy to continue! Eva and all your friends at Fitness 2000 x x x

06 March 2010 12:27 pm (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London

Hey everyone,

Well we finally set off on Tuesday last week from buying another ticket thanks to Eva from fitness 2000. We arrived in Peru in the city of lima which was ok apart from the flight being full of angry screaming kids....from there we then flew down to aquipia and had to get a taxis from there to the boarder and into chili to Arica... the taxis driver was good and would have given the 'STIG' off top gear a run for his money as he started to race a white datsun with oncoming busses... we finally arrived in chili after the white knuckled ride... we then decided to try our luck with one of the busses to calama which was 12 hours long... the bus was awesome as the chairs reclined and very comfortable.... when we arrived in calama at 0500hrs local we were told we would not set off to Atacama for about 3 hours in which time there was allot of commotion on which bus we would be on and in the end one of our bags were stolen in about 5 to 10 secs 'I know what some of you are saying back home how can it happen to me when i teach travel security' well the honest answer was it was like magic ... i did jam my hand in a taxis drivers boot to stop him closing it as i thought it was him.... anyway i called Marketa from the hotel Atacama Adventurer who was so helpful and she came to san pedro to pick us up... what a terrific women and the hotel was to die for... the food was out of this world and i have never seen Owen eat so much..... if you ever  need accommodation on this kind of event then her website is http://www.atacamadventure.com/

Well we then went out to moon valley for a 2 hour exertion which was really good until we experienced the 6.4 earthquake. I said to Marketa is the ground moving which she replied OH SHIT I then said was that you thinking allowed as the ground shock harder….  What a lovely place we sat on the side of a hill and all admired the view whilst listening to the sounds of nature…….

The past 2 days we have been doing a little sight seeing and relaxing by the pool… the other competitors are extremely friendly and our brit friends are awesome and very supportive…

Tomorrow we head off to camp one ready to start on Monday…. So kit is packed and body ready well as ready as can be…..

Dear All,

this is my first post and would like to introduce myself and get some feedback from those who are planning their trip.

Myself and Owen (other Norfolk boy) will be travelling over a week early to take in some of the scenes and to acclimatize to the environment a bit and would like to know who else has the same thing in mind.

Regards
Trig

Won't be at the race very early but read your story and what you are doing. I am moved and impressed. As a medical oncologist I would love to support you and went to your website to give a donation but it did not seem to be working yet. Looking forward to meeting you at the race.

Posted On: 29 Dec 2009 05:00 pm

I'm hoping to arrive on the wednesday so will see you there. I suggest you do the day trip to Lake Verde in Bolivia - stunning.
