Just checking in on my friend Ryan to see how his day is going. You know, no big deal. He's just running across a dessert.
Your account is surreal. What will people think of you Ryan?People will think you are crazy LOL. They'll think you are competitive like no other person they know. Strong. Determined. And, crazy ;) But no one is surprised that you would take on such a challenge. We know you have higher expectations of yourself than any of us could ever have for you, or own selves for that matter. And if it takes 8 instead of 6 hours to complete the day, no one would judge .. we'd just think, what a gruelling day you've had. And we'd think about having to get up in the morning and do it again.
So, we cheer from you from afar. And hope for strength. And the wind at your back.
Of course you can do this.

Ryan... This is an amazing account. We are all cheering you on and excited for your journey ahead. Love to hear of the moment to moment challenges and adventures. The description of the topography reminds me of a high altitude trek I did in Peru years ago. The jagged rocks and intense heat and light (and dark and cold...). Such a wonderful lesson to live in the present and appreciate every moment... Cheers from Kate, Fraser, Erica and Stephanie!

Oh no bag!!! {inside joke}
I home you can borrow some sort of replacement or fix it... but I'm afraid that you are no MacGyver, my love.
I read the beginning of your blog post to Archer-- told him it was a letter about Pooh Bear from Daddy. It made him smile.
Dig deep Ry- you are the strongest person I know and you will make it through successfully one way or another. Love you. V & A

You're doing this - not for the first time - because you are exactly the kind of person who can dig deep when times get tough and figure out what you need to move forward. Well done. And thanks for the amazing descriptions of the journey. Tomorrow is another day, another adventure. My judgement of you is, "This guy is one of my Guy's best friends on the planet. Amazing that they have found each other. Amazing that he even attempts this race. Amazing. " So put that in your pocket and take it with you tomorrow. A

Tomorrow, I will join ~125 others from ~40 countries in a 7-day race across the Atacama desert in Chile. This event, part of racing the planet

Ryan,
We are all so proud of you. We are getting the report back in how tough it is, the challenges you are facing, and how well you are doing.
What you have ahead of you is your enemy, embrace it, love it, flow with it, and it will be your friend.
On every challenges the whole is unforgiving but break it down into its smaller parts and you are the conquer.
Ryan, this is your challenge but we are by you side every step of the way.

Hey Ryan, cheering for you from up in wet Toronto. Enjoy and give it all you've got! Give B a hug for me (or an IT band massage!). xo
