Only 8k to go to the finish line now, so unless something horrible happens, it looks like I

Allen, outstanding effort. Hope that 'cold beer' was rewarding. You deserved it. Look forward to seeing you in Cambodia . . . and good luck with the Antarctic :). W.

Hi Allen, very impressive. Enjoy your last 8k in the knowledge you can have a cold beer at the end :). Al, Kat & Ethan.

Glad to be sitting in the shade of camp 5. Today was a hot, slow and painful 44k. I though the soft sand dunes were over for us, but there were a lot at the start of stage 4

Hi Allen, Love reading the blogs. Sounds like a challenging experience, quite unlike the other races you have described. Thank you, again, for your support of the Song Saa Foundation. Wayne

Hi Allen, I thought day 3 was supposed to be the tough one, the stages just seem to get harder and harder. Hope you had a good nights rest and that your blisters are OK for today's extra long day. Reading your blog is fascinating and gives a real insight to the race and the terrain (without the pain, obviously). Whats was the deal with the bakery, if you can't carry it you can't eat it? Torture! Good luck again for today and keep strong, only one more after this.

Safely back at camp 4 now. Today was another tough one

You're an inspiration, Allen! Keep it up. I'm with you there in spirit if that helps....one foot in front of the other. Go, go, go.

Congrats on your stage completion and halfway point Allen. This one sounds pretty tough going and that makes your placings even more impressive. Its lucky that the doc had a drill because I think the alternative is a red hot needle put through the nail into the blister. Hope you can spread out your food for the rest of the crossing. Good luck for your 44km stage tomorrow. Al, Kat & Ethan

A really tough one today! Think I came in 35th, but would have been ok with 135th, the way I felt during the last 10k

I'm really impressed that you can still describe it as fun! You're doing so well - next move is to get your big brother taking up the challenge! Looking forward to reading the next instalment of the blog.

Hi Allen, Really going well bro! The scenery is fantastic but I guess you have other things on your mind. From what everybody seems to be saying, today is "the one". Keep safe and I will be thinking of you.

Go, Buddy! Wish I was there plodding along with you, feeling miserable and reveling in the accomplishment. Stay healthy and keep going!!!

Well done thus far. An incredible challenge and achievement. You are inspiring us all to try a little harder with our 50+ bodies, just need to work out how to develop a fraction of the will and determination that you seem to have in backpackfulls! Keep going well and sure as you "protect" yourself in race 3! Really good luck. Andrew

28th, a fantastic result on stage one. Very impressed with the 5 star cusine you are carrying around even if it does all taste the same. Good luck for tomorrow.

Keep us the good work. The mac and cheese would be a no-brainier for me. We will look forward to your next update. Al, Kat & Ethan.

glad to know the parmesan chips went down well! We got the times wrong and thought you started today - we haven't worked out the time difference. It sounds really hard with the altitude, keep going one down !
