Day one was quite tough. It was a long day. We were hoping for a shorter day today, but we were out for 8 hours. Once again the weather was fantastic. We are now sailing to the Antarctic continent (we have just been to 2 of the islands), so that should be interesting.

Hey dad - I'm surprised that you have made it this far without tearing something. Good luck for the rest of the race.

Finally here in Ushuaia, after 32 hours flying time and roughly two days of travelling. Managed to get a few last minute purchases at the local sports store. We will be getting on the ship in the next few hours, looking forward to that. The weather is quite pleasant here today, but I'm sure it will get a little colder as we head South.

Hey dad, hope you have fun trekking the coldest, windiest and most dry continent. i guess we all have to run away from mum at some point in time. look up the "Belgica Antartica". i heard its a really nice companion to have with you ;). also, you arent alone, while you are in Antartica, i will be in the crippling pain of CITF. hopefully i survive. Have fun

Good luck Andy - I see Matthew mentioned the Boks, so I will say no more - Scotland beat Argentina - so David was ecstatic. Stay warm and take a lot of photo's.

Hey dad, hope you're having fun, it nearly hit 30 degrees today in Sydney in case you're feeling a bit cold. I will try my hardest not to talk about the springboks, it will only depress you more than you already would be. As I sit in the comfort of the theatre room eating ready made meals, I try to think about what you are going through. Then I stop. I'm not crazy. Try and get a good place this time, you don't have mum dragging behind as an excuse anymore ;).

Andy. Typical of you to escape to the remotest corner of the planet to get away from seeing the Boks lose to Italy in the Rugby. You can only hope that your Cricket team continue to beat Australia, as that cheers everyone up. England thrashed Fiji to make it 12 wins on the spin, in case you were wondering how the top rugby nations were faring. i trust the drake passage has not been too rough, and you managed to hold down the pints of Argentinian beer from Ushuaia. Remember if it gets too cold down there at night you can always p p p p pick up a p p p penguin. Good luck.

Good luck dad, Andy. Liam asks if you can take photos of some seals and penguins! Missing you. Leonie, Elmien and I are having a braai with Danie and Riana on Sunday - so will be raising our glasses to you and Lauren's whilst we tuck into our juicy steaks! Something to look forward to !
