Today where the last stage, and the most epic of them all. It was a short run and quite flat, but still challenging because there where a thin layer of ice on top of the snow, which broke all the time, so suddenly a foot would sink down.

We should only run for 2,5 hours, and then time for celebration. 2 of the participants had their wedding at the finish line, and it was just so romantic and beautiful out there in the middle of Antarctic. There was a lot of penguins around, and they had dressed more nice for the wedding than all us smelling runnersJ

After the wedding we got the chance to jump in the sea, and it is actually quite releasing for sore legs.

It feels very strange that it already is over now, it has been a lot of preparation and training, and it has been a great and very memorable holiday. I have meet a lot of fantastic people on this trip, and I will enjoy the time with them on the way back, before we all split up and spread out all over the globe again.

The great thing about sport is that it connects people. And for next year I hope for a different kind of connection, because I will focus on teamsport, like 6 man outrigger cannoing and dragon boat.

Thanks a million to all of you whom have followed by blog and whom have been writing to me, it has been extremely nice with all your comments.

It sounds simply incredible. Cannot imagine how small it must feel to be floating on that big sea. I don't know how you managed to run MORE than all the other races you have done. I suppose the cool air and low altitude helps a little bit? I'm just catching up on your blogs now. Amazing!

God sidste tur

25 November 2016 09:49 am (GMT-03:00) Buenos Aires, Georgetown

I woke up this morning and enjoyed the view of icebergs just outside the cabin, and then there where a big group of penguins swimming and jumping around in the cold water.

Hello Lene, Wow and I thought running in ottawa and getting me feet wet and cold was hard! You run for a lot longer in the cold with the wet feet! Your adventure sounds life altering! It is fabulous you were able to train, make the journey and now achieve your goal! The scenery sounds beautiful! YOU ROCK LENE!

VILDT!!

Hi all

Thanks a lot for all the comments, it is really motivating to hear from you,

This race has so far been the most tough and challenging I ever have done, both physical and mental. Everything depend on the weather, so it is not easy to know how the days will go. Part of my race strategy was to keep my feet warm and dry

Hi Lene, Fantastic photos of the second stage. It's a bit scary that of all the outrigging and ultra marathons you have done that Antartica is hardest of them all mentally and physically. I suppose 8 hours turn around has a lot to do with it. Recover well, roll and stretch if you can. Keep warm and eat and sleep as much as you can. Enjoy. Ross

21 November 2016 02:06 am (GMT-03:00) Buenos Aires, Georgetown

Thanks mother earth for a really calm sea. We are in Drake Passage now, and the waves are just approx 1m high (I had expected it to be 10m high).

We have already been on the boat 24 hours and still at least 30 hours to go. We have a lot of fun on the boat, there are so many awesome people.

The boat is like a floating hotel, and the service is really great. Everything here is just super great!

I am super excited to get started to run, and see what the weather conditions will be like. The plan is to start with the long stage- and I really hope that I can stay warm and dry.

Thanks a lot for all the comments, so great to hear from your all!

Knus herfra. Rikke
