Well we did our first run - ankle deep snow and most of it uphill for 7 hours.

That's right Ice Man - you are dangerous! We BBQ fairy penguins in Oz - taste like Chicken (not KFC)! Run....Forest......Run

Can you smuggle a Penguin back for Christmas, Hayley would really like one. Preferably one that talks like robin williams!!and dances like happy feet. Hope your feet are keeping you happy... Take care of yourself and keep your bum warm..Julie

This behavior is clearly a Danish thing, as I remember Jaan warning us all to be very careful of the tight, potentially slippy corner coming up, shortly before he crashed his brand new out of the box bicycle on the very same corner.... Nice work on the moon fella - any chance of a slap dance to liven things up? Girls want to know where the red leggings have gone. Very disappointed... Cheers, R, E, C & S

"Q: Did you ever cry during an event? If so, during how many events? A: No" WHATEVER :-) Message from your daughter: "Eeeeee aaaaaah goooooo baaayeeeee daaa!" Kick ar5e for the rest of the race! Narly, Rachel, Ben and Poppycat

well done mate, were all following your progress. Sounds really awsome... PS you reckon I need to revisit my future plans of doing this one in a thermal kilt eh ??

Alright squire? It was 22 degrees today in Hong Kong. If anything, it was too hot to be out in jeans! Keep it and thanks for the updates. Cheers, The Wiggs Family

Well done on your first race Alex. Just keep that bum covered - Kylie thinks it's only your fingers and toes that might get frostbite! You do have other extremities you know!

I can now say with a degree of certainty, that despite coming from a nation with a strong naval history, i was not born to spend my time at sea. i have spent the last couple of days feeling really queasy as we cross the drake passage at a time when its apparently not that rough. all i can say is, thank god it wasn't rough. Ironically i've maintained a raging appetite! Great for the carbo loading but bad for belly size. The ship is great-I would like to say that life on it is tough but it really isn't. 4 course meals are par for the course and water delivered to the cabin door. Theres plenty of the local bird life following the ship and we had a visit from a pod of whales last night. We're yet to see our first iceberg but I think we're only a couple of hours away. We leave the ship at 3 in the morning for the first run. Its difficult to know what to wear/take because my Antarctic running experience is limited to say the least but I guess i'll do the first run and correct any mistakes I make for the second run. I haven't ventured out side much from the heated ship (call me a wuss but its cold) so I'm bracing for a shock tomorrow. Anyway more to come later and my daughter had better wait to make her second step until daddy gets home.

So, how was the run? Cold? I'm delighted by this common theme amongst bloggers of their surprise at how cold it is. One has to ask what else you were expecting - haven't you seen Madagascar?

What's this? Just popped into check on your progress and apparently you haven't started yet. This is all just an elaborate hoax, isn't it? You're actually sitting behind a keyboard in the South of France. Admit it... Narly, HK

Run Fat Boy, Run. Will you be joining the pod of whales shortly?

Go hard son! Think warm sunny beaches and pina coladas. Think Chuck Norris hard. Look forwad to hearing how all goes. Best words of advice I was given prior to my first race - keep moving forwards...........enjoy!

Chuffing great news about your daughter taking her first steps. I tried to get hold of all of you over the weekend, for obvious reasons I was unable to speak to you. I'll see if I can contact your wife more readily over the next few days. Remember that when the snow is yellow, do not eat it.

Is it my imagination or is Johnno looking a little podgy in his bio photo?

Hey Alex. See you're getting the excuses in early mate. Just go and get on with it and stop going on about the weather. It's only a few degrees less than HK right?!

Although I have not had the opportunity to be in the presence of the 'Scarlett Strides' I have been a long time admirer. I guess I'll have to just imagine them under your Last Desert gear matey.

So thats why we've got neoprene face masks - in the highly unlikely event that the Danes are actually in front of you!
