Just like that the 2nd race of the 4 Deserts Grand Slam Plus series has come to a close. I can’t believe it. The race was a complete success with winning the female division, and placing 6th overall in a time of 29:10! This success included pacing myself, training really smart, and most importantly putting the right fuel into my body to set myself up for success. When it comes to food out there, it is a very fine dance between understanding your body and the climate that it will be in. it is also a fine dance between looking at your own body weight and how much is enough to ensure that you are racing at optimal potential. Too often folks can get caught up in the hype of making their pack as light as possible and then they will end up sacrificing on their food allotment. So let’s take a peek at how I prepared for the Sahara Race (Namibia).
