Day #2 of Staff Training and Racer Sightings Posted 8am, Friday Sept 23
The first racers have arrived, some even venturing out for a warm-up run around the pyramids. Most have come early to relax or see the sights before their grueling week in the sand. The first official check-in for returning racers begins tonight at 8pm at the Movenpick Heliopolis Hotel here in Cairo. The remainder will go through check-in Saturday morning before the bus departs for campsite #1.
Training continues for staff members this morning. Everything from checkpoint protocol to emergency procedures to behavior in the company of scorpions, is being covered. Race Director Ian Adamson's primary advice is not to go lie down near a pile of rocks because that is where the scorpions tend to gather. Jan Richardson, Campsite Logistics Director, has been working tirelessly to make sure all the equipment is on hand and ready to transport. His convoy left at 5am this morning to begin building campsite #. Excitement continues to build! | |
