The 4 Deserts seeks an international and diverse group of high caliber individuals to serve as volunteers. Selection criteria includes: the ability to speak English and other languages; prior event experience; recommendation from a staff member or competitor; special skills; and most importantly a positive attitude.  Volunteer selection is made on an ongoing basis according to the needs of the event.  The volunteers typically range in age from 18 – 70 years of age.  Great effort is made to select a wide range of ages, nationalities and backgrounds.

Each event has around 15 volunteers who work closely with the management team of approximately five.  Volunteer training takes place one day before the event.  Volunteers assist with check in

and are assigned to checkpoints and the campsite to administer water and scorekeeping, to ‘sweep the course’ – walk with the end of the pack in each stage and collect markers, to ‘rove the course’ – encourage competitors on the course and report on any problems, and to a handful of other assignments which may vary according to event.  Many assignments will change throughout the week.  For those selected, the experience is extraordinary.

All expenses are paid for a volunteer once he/she arrives at the official headquarters in the host city.   In addition, volunteers receive official event jackets, shirts and caps.  Volunteer places are in high demand, so apply early.  Please click here to download an application form.  You may contact Kris Wu at kwu@racingtheplanet.com with any additional questions.
